Addison was late to the party.  VERY late: it was a weekend get-together featuring pizza and movies, today’s choice being Raiders of the Lost Ark.

But there had been an emergency at the Institute, one requiring his presence, and he’d been delayed by several hours.  He just hoped that the extra pizzas he was carrying would earn him a chance at forgiveness…

The scene that met his eyes made him blink: Almost every single member of his crew were out cold on the various seats or the floor, some snoring loudly.  

Vivian was sitting at the kitchen table, a pile of overturned shot glasses in front of her, next to several empty tequila bottles.  She grinned at him triumphantly.  “They said it wasn’t realistic,” she enunciated slowly and carefully.  “They said, no way a woman Marian’s size could ever out-drink a man.”  

Vivian snickered, waving an unsteady hand at the recumbent members of his crew.  “But I showed them!”

Addison eyed a couple of his larger crewmen, beginning to grin.  “Looks like you did, at that, lass!”  He hastily put down the pizza boxes when she tried to get up, and caught her when she wobbled.  “Steady, love!”  He kissed her forehead and she giggled.  “Let’s get you some water, and some Vitamin K, and then take you home…”

“Ooo!”  She nuzzled his neck.  “Mon Dieu I love your accent.  It’s soooo damned sexy!”  The nuzzle turned into a nibble.  “If I’m a reeeally good girl will you take me to bed?”  

Addison half-groaned, half grinned.  “Bed it is.  You need to sleep it off!”  He manfully ignored Vivian’s wandering hands and the lewd suggestions she was breathing into his ear, along with tequila fumes. 

Fortunately, the taxi driver was amused as Addison wrangled Vivian into the back, and the woman agreed to keep an eye on her while Addison ducked into a drug store.  He tipped the driver generously for her trouble, and breathed a sigh of relief as he got Vivian inside, Tayson, Dustmop and Lurk all followed them into the bedroom to watch while Addison persuaded Vivian to take the Vitamin K and drink a lot of water.  

To Addison’s relief, their fascinated audience disconcerted Vivian enough that Addison was able to fend off her advances and persuade her to go to sleep.  She dropped off quickly after that, and Addison grinned as the two cats sniffed their mistress over, noses wrinkling in distaste at the alcohol fumes before they curled up next to her.  

Sighing, Addison took Tayson outside to do his business, then kicked off his clothes and climbed into bed next to Vivian.  He wondered if she would remember any of the more lascivious promises she’d made once she woke up.

Bonjour, Marin!

 When we first met, I was certain thatyou were an opinionated, arrogant, unfairly attractive pain in the derriere.  

Turns out I was right.  However, you are also intelligent, fair-minded,passionate about what you believe in, and willing to listen if approached correctly.

And, you are just as stubborn as I am,and furthermore, blessed with a lively sense of humor.  

You challenge me, make me think, treat me like an intelligent adult, aggravate the hell out of me, and make melaugh.   As difficult as it is to admit, I am beginningto think this is exactly what I need in a man: someone strong enough to standup to me, but able to bend when necessary.

I don’t know when or how it happened,but…  You have become necessary to me.  You remind me that life is supposed to befun, and an adventure.  You take me as Iam, with no pretending and you seem to actually LIKE that I’m a stubborn,sharp-tongued, cast-iron bitch.  

I don’t know where this relationshipis going.  I just know that I enjoy yourcompany, whatever we are doing, whether it’s arguing, teasing, researching, singing,swimming or in bed (or on my desk or in the car or on the floor…)

You are, to quote an old movie, the besttime I’ve ever had.  And I don’t knowwhere this adventure will end up, but I’m going to find out.  

I care about you a lot, but…am I fallingin love with you?  

I don’t know.  

I have no experience with being inlove.  I don’t know what it’s supposed tofeel like.  All I know, is that I feel bothhappy and safe when you are with me, a feeling that is new and a little scary.  If this is love, then it’s definitely not forsissies.

Good thing neither of us are cowards!

14: What is your muse’s deadly sin?

Interesting.  I almost said Pride, but while she has a lot of pride, it’s mostly to her own detriment instead of that of other people.  It’s not hubris: it takes the form of an excess of independence and an unwillingness to ask for help.  And, it’s partly because other people have let her down so often.

So, I would actually have to say Wrath.  She has a temper, and isn’t particularly good at minding her tongue.  Her opinion of people, with a few notable exceptions, isn’t very high, so she tends to be blunt, sarcastic, and downright unpleasant if annoyed.  This, too is a defense mechanism, and used to keep people at a distance.
