Another of my favourites, started the Imagination Library a program that gives children free, age-appropriate books from birth to age five. It has distributed hundreds of millions of books to children around the world.

Helped children affected by the 2016 Tennessee wildfires — After devastating fires in the Gatlinburg area, she created the My People Fund, which provided monthly financial assistance to families who had lost their homes.

Donated to COVID-19 vaccine research — She donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which supported research that contributed to the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Supported education — She has funded scholarships, schools, literacy programs, and educational initiatives, particularly in her home region of East Tennessee.

Built the Dollywood Foundation — Her foundation supports education and literacy, with the Imagination Library being its best-known program.

Helped her hometown community — Through Dollywood and related projects, she has supported jobs, tourism, education, and charitable causes in the Appalachian region.

Supported disaster relief — She has donated to various disaster-relief efforts, including aid for communities affected by hurricanes, floods, and wildfires.

Advocated for literacy — Her emphasis on getting books into children's hands has helped make early reading accessible to families who might otherwise struggle to afford books.

Supported cancer research and healthcare — She has donated to medical institutions and causes involving cancer research, healthcare, and treatment.
