European Looney Tunes fans: Preview dates for COYOTE VS. ACME now dropping

The preview date I've mostly seen at the European end is August 21. I'm booked in for a matinee next Friday up in Dublin.

The film "goes wide" worldwide on August 28. (But why wait? Glad to show up early and show this film some love... and possibly put Big Looney off the idea of trying the shelve-people's-hard-work-for-tax-writeoffs stunt again.)

While watching a DVD from the library my TV popped up a message saying to press a button if I wanted to watch this from additional providers.

It's never done that before so I looked it up and turns out Roku TVs have added all sorts of creepy things in the privacy section since I last checked.

One of which being they take screenshots from what you're watching and send them to third parties to identify it.

Fucking hell! Remember when every fucking device in your life wasn't a spy implanted in your home and working against your interests to try and sell your data? Remember how nice that was??

PSA - Do not buy an LG smart TV. They just added a line to their terms of use that it's the user's responsibility to inform any guests in their house that by entering they consent to be recorded, in order to comply with wiretapping laws. That thing is literally recording you.

You can find tutorials online telling you how to open that thing up and physically remove the mic and wifi module. Frankly I don't trust anything less.

Honestly, platform heels are absolutely not my favourite thing to wear for pole, but they are deeply connected to the history and modern context of pole. New $900 million pledge brings total Africa clean cooking commitments to $3.1 billion, as nearly 1 billion people still lack access.

Cooking may not be the first thing that springs to mind when we think of carbon emissions and air pollution, but for parts of the world without access to clean cooking methods it's a significant issue.

Around 70% of the population of sub-Saharan Africa cooks over firewood, charcoal, or kerosene due to lack of access to cleaner fuels like ethanol, gas, or electricity. This constitutes up to 45% of Africa's greenhouse gas emissions and, even more significantly, causes 850,000 premature deaths from air pollution. Securing fuels like charcoal and firewood can also contribute to deforestation.

The Africa Clean Cooking Summit in 2024 secured $2.2 billion dollars in funding to provide access to clean cooking methods, and recently an additional $900 million in funding was added. Around one third of the money pledged at the Clean Cooking Summit has already been mobilized to help local communities.

I was amazed to look around and find that the entire group had returned and were sitting like front row spectators at a sideshow. All that was needed to make the image complete were a few gorilla-sized bags of popcorn and some cotton candy! This was the first live audience I had ever had in my life and certainly the least expected.]

imagine some freakish not-a-human alien THING has shown up out of nowhere and is trying to get into your office building to study you. but it has no idea how to get past a revolving door. it tries for three hours. by the time it finally understands the concept of a revolving door and squeeze into the building everyone in the office is crowded into the lobby to watch and call helpful suggestions. it’s conclusively determined that the alien is definitely not a threat, except maybe to itself.
