The words bounce around Leia’s brain as she runs. Days of hiding and sneaking and dodging Stormtroopers had her on edge in the first place, and now that she’s in motion, adrenaline pumps through her body, beating the rhythm of her heart into her muscles. She risks a glance over her shoulder, relieved that the Imperial officers chasing her are no longer in sight, and continues her winding route back to the ship.
By the time she gets there, her legs feels like rubber, barely holding her up, and she sprints the last bit of distance to safety. And slams full-bodied into Luke, sending them both stumbling into the bulkhead as his arms wrap around her reflexively.
“Hi,” Luke says, staring down at her with wide, surprised eyes.
Leia laughs as she gasps for breath, and presses her mouth to his.

Question for ya Taff. In your great pieces about OCs and characterization, you mentioned that you do the character interviews and keep quote sheets. Do you have any special formatting for your quote tracking? Do you just throw it all in a doc?

Depends. I have thin, physical notebooks for each character for quick references, like speech patterns and quirks and highlights to their personality. But the majority of my recordings go into Scrivener, where I dump everything into their respective character folder. That includes reference pictures (especially for OCs), and for canon characters links to source material information that might come in handy.

You’re welcome! For me, talking about this stuff and being completely upfront with my own experiences serves several purposes. The more of us talking about it, the harder it is to maintain the stigma of mental illness and getting treatment. Also, I kinda feel like if my experiences help someone else, then that’s something good coming out of something bad.
And on a selfish note, talking about it helps me too. Being a talkative, self-analytical navel-gazer turns out to be pretty helpful in therapy (except when it’s not--intellectualization was a HUGE stumbling block for me for, like, a decade). Spelling out where I’ve been and what I’ve done serves as a good reminder for me of the progress I’ve made, but also a reminder of what has worked and what hasn’t.
