I'm not going to stop screaming about this as long as there is oxygen in my lungs.
Gaza is experiencing an attempt at genocide and the Western world, led by the US and its trusty lapdog Germany, is facilitating it.
24 October is United Nations Day.Ā To recognize this day, we are sharing an episodeĀ The Oxford Comment podcastĀ where we were lucky to feature members of the communicationsā team atĀ @united-nations on World Humanitarian Day.Ā
World Humanitarian Day is held every year on 19 August to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and to rally support for people affected by crises around the world. In 2018, the United Nations centered their campaign around civilians in war zones using #NotATarget.Ā
Podcast Produced by Nicole Piendel for Oxford University PressĀ
Abandoned shops line the streets of once bustling towns across Ayaci and Magwi County near Torit in the eastern part of South Sudan. Places like Obbo, Pajok, and Pugee appear deserted, save a few women trading what little crops they have cultivated, or small groups of elderly men taking their tea. āThe situation we are having here is because of hunger. People have run away to the [refugee] camps [in Uganda]. Few have come back, so we are facing difficulties for food and crops to be planted,ā explains David Omwony, a citizen of Obbo Payam.
Hereās how your selfie can help people trapped in war!
World Humanitarian Day is only 10 days away and YOU can be part of it!
Hereās whatās happening:Ā Around the world, millions of people are suffering in wars & conflicts:

Families are forced to flee their homes, struggling every single day to find food, water and safe shelter.Ā
Aid workers and health workers are attacked, their supplies looted and ambulances bombed.Ā
But the world isnāt doing enough to stop their suffering.
On World Humanitarian Day (19 August), stand with us and tell world leaders that they must do everything in their power to protect people trapped in war:Ā Civilians are #NotATarget.
