to swing a bat at a hornets nest, one of the reasons i don't engage with a lot of aphmau fandom stuff regarding diaries is because people are so sexist.
I don't really see it as much on here now, but it was definitely very prominent in the covid era, and currently is in places like aphtok .
But people will often speak about MCD Aphmau in ways that are incredibly misogynistic, or maliciously misrepresentative, and it pisses me off. I won't name particular comments or jokes because I don't want to be seen as targeting anyone, this is a general fandom issue, but people will make claims that aren't backed up by canon, or are explicitly disproven in canon, all to paint her in a bad light.
Now, it's nothing new to complain about how people talk about her, but it's so so severe that it's impossible to have any actual criticisms of her, because when people discuss her flaws they use misogynistic dog whistle after heavily loaded phrase.
Even when people are totally correct, they're wording it in ways that imply a whole lot more that isn't true, is incredibly unfair, or, again, is just straight up sexist. And it makes this fandom very uncomfortable to navigate at times because I don't even think people understand what they're saying half the time.
