The soft flicker of light from the candle disappears, leaving a faint trail of smoke as you blow it out.

"Happy birthday, doll," Shinji sings with a charming smile gracing his lips and a tilt of his head. He loves the cute expression on your face as he gazes at you. The way you fidget in your seat, flustered by his undivided attention, makes him want to tease you endlessly, but he figures he'd spare you on your special day, at least for a little bit.

Shinji is glad that he ordered your favorite cake from the nearby bakery for today, even when you had insisted on not wanting anything grand to celebrate. How could he not celebrate your birth, though? He was thankful to have you in his life, to have you in his heart and mind at all times.

"Thank you." You say quietly, but happily nonetheless, as you smile at him. Your eyes shift to the bouquet of flowers he had brought along with the cake sitting elegantly on the table. It was beautiful, full of vibrant roses, crimson spider lilies, and delicate carnations; all your favorites. The floral scent is pleasant as it melds with the sweetness of the dessert.

"I won't ask ya what yer wish was, so instead I'll give ya this." Moving the bouquet out of the way, he places a moderately sized gift box on the table, watching as you glance at him skeptically before moving to open it.

"What? Don't look at me like that! I promise it's not anythin' crazy."

The bright smile that blooms on your face has his heart squeezing with warm affection and his shoulders relaxing in relief when you finally open the gift.

Clutched in your hands is an incredibly soft teddy bear wearing a bright pink bow. Shinji knew the second he laid eyes on it that he had to gift it to you.

"Shinji, you're too sweet. Thank you for all of this!" You exclaim cheerfully, giving him a big hug to show your thanks. He returns your embrace, basking in your warmth and placing a loving kiss on your temple.

"I'm glad ya like it, darlin'." He whispers. "Now let's cut into that cake, I've been dyin' fer somethin' sweet!" He drawls when you pull away.

There's a glimmer of mischief in his eyes that has you doubting for a moment whether he was actually talking about the cake or something more suggestive, but you ignore it for now as he cuts into the dessert, serving you the first slice.

One thing was for sure: Shinji would make sure your day would be full of nothing but bright smiles and sweet words meant just for you.
