But for now a little reveal: the reason I haven't been posting here is because a week ago today I had to rush to the hospital and have an unnecessary but painful organ removed. SO, kind of a crazy week!

Our nuchal translucency scan is next Wednesday, to check for chromosomal abnormalities. That's pretty much the last step before we're out of the woods (the woods are a bit thicker and scarier now that the two of us have been through major surgery and general anesthesia, but everything seems to be fine so far.) A week from tomorrow we go west and will see all of C's family, and tell them all in person. After that, we tell the world!

I hope to transition from here to my old blog and tell the full story of the appendectomy (which was done on a wing and a prayer, since I couldn't have a CAT scan to confirm it was REALLY appendicitis), and the crazy phone call w my mom when I told her I was in the hospital, about to go into surgery, and 10.5 weeks pregnant.

Hope this doesn't backfire and somehow get me outed on twitter with my IRL friends, but after the week I've had I just can't keep quiet anymore. Sigh. Internet etiquette. Secrets. So sticky.

I had a whole long treatise written here about the recent #nosybitches drama. I deleted it. What it boiled down to:

Of course we shouldn't censor each other. But that means also not censoring people who say "X upset me" or "I find Y offensive."

Calling someone touchy or oversensitive in an open discussion group is kind of a dick move.

If you know that ~10% of your community is dealing with fertility issues (I know of at least 5 nosy bitches who are), is it really that hard to stop and think about whether they might have a hard time with your tweet/rant/evening-long conversation? And edit/abstain/disclaim as needed? Probably not.

I also revealed that I've had stretch marks since long before I got pregnant, and no real abs to speak of that I'd have to worry about getting back to post-baby. So THAT whole conversation did make me feel like kind of a loser.
