Luke: [age 21, discussing a recent premarital counseling session with him and his fiancée, Jess] "So she [the pastor] asked us to list all the different psychological issues we knew of in our family trees."
Me: "I think it would be faster to list the ones our family doesn't have."
Luke: "Well, yeah, there's a lot to choose from."
Me: [pretending to open a book] "Here's a famous biography someone wrote about our family and all our relatives. You might have heard of it? It's called 'the DSM-5'."
Luke: "Right. And then you add in Jess's family and it really rounds out the list."
Jess: "I guess all family trees have a little craziness, right?"
Luke: "Yeah, but as much as ours?"
Mom: "Absolutely. They might not admit it up front, but it's there."
Luke: "I don't know if that's a relief or not."
