“loss is a collaborative art, between the people who leave us and those who remain. we dance with the shadows of their absence.”
I was going to go on a rant about blind bags being a blight on modern society, until I remembered that I grew up with them as well:
God, these things were my jam! I used to squeal with joy anytime I saw these little guys pop up at flea markets or anytime my dad bought a packet for me during visitation.

I love the romance of bygone eras. Here is a detail of our hand carved headboard that we bought for $100 from our neighbor. Turns out that he was restoring a historical house from the 1860s and this headboard was stuffed in the attic. As soon as we saw it we fell in love. It’s intricately carved with leaves and roses and daffodils and is a true work of art. After we reupholstered it, it took a place of honor in one of our bedrooms. Every time I look at it I’m awed. They just don’t make things like they used to.
