Today’s Contest Prize Kaiju File is Normus, the hybrid monstrosity made by @c-g-ricks! One of the big trends I noticed among the contest entries is that people want there to be even more body horror in ATOM, so it was innevitable we’d get at least a few here in the winner’s circle. Normus narrowly edged out c-g-ricks’ other creation, Dangalar - both were wonderfully meta creatures with designs that were very fun to draw, but Normus fits ATOM’s setting just a bit better. He also reminds me of The Fly, which continues another tradition of these contest entries: taking monster concepts from non-kaiju creature features of the 50′s and 60′s and kaijufying them. He isn’t the first winner to do it, and won’t be the last.
