@normaliize dealt her hand ♣
Each of the kids had their own demons, some greater than others—and some quite literal. If his years had taught him anything, it was patience, and he had plenty for one girl in particular.
Remy knocked on Ivory’s door with his knuckle, pausing to listen out for a sound he knew wouldn’t come. Still, he always preferred announcing his presence rather than just barging in.
“Ya in dere, Iv’ry?”
He opened the door a crack, peeking his head inside to see that her lamp was on. Turning his attention to the other side of the room, he found her already in bed with her plush.
“Alice an’ dem made cookies, brought ya some.” Remy stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. Now that he was fully in view, he revealed a small plate in his hand with said cookies, along with a napkin.
It was an emotional day for all of them. It was the first time Remy had seen the young group arguing, and over a mock training session at that. Lack of coordination, who would play the role of leader and why, and who came up short. Thankfully, the majority of them had made up by evening and joined Alice in the kitchen for what she considered a bonding exercise. Ivory was noticeably absent.
He sat on the edge of her bed, handing her the plate, features marred in concern.
“Y’alright, minou? Ain’t said a peep since dis mornin’. Still hung up’on practice?”
