My boss denied me a raise before my shift today. What's some music you have never wanted to hear in a coffee shop?
Some in congress think they deserve a raise
There are members of congress who think they deserve a raise. Say what? The ones who were there before this election didn't do any thing to earn their $174000 PLUS BENEFITS INCLUDING LIFETIME INCOME. Why would we think the current crop will be any different. 50 votes to repeal a law they don't want because they don't like the president who was elected by a majority of those voting doesn't count as work. There ought to be a law that no session of congress can give itself a raise AND when they do raise salaries, the salary should not apply to them, EVER, unless the members skip a session. That means that someone who's in office for 20 years will never get a raise unless they leave office and are elected again. Not just re-elected but after a break of at least 1 term of office.Of course, I don't think they should receive a salary - They are elected for a contractual term: 2 years or 6 years if a full term; less if elected to fill a term that was vacated. They are contractors and should be treated as such - 1099s and THEY MUST PAY FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH INSURANCE. Of course, as 1099/contractor they would no longer be entitled to lifetime income. That would save a lot of money. If they were paid a daily rate, maybe they'd work more than 8 hours per week.
