Benedict prided himself on being quite a logical sim and observant. But he knew he was shaking with fear of Sophie dying, and he chose the hand...

...that didn't have her life in it.

"NOOO!" he howled in despair.

I gave you a chance and you failed, came the taunt of Death. Deciding that he'd been here long enough, he turned and sent Sophie's soul to the spirit world, leaving her urn behind.

And I just 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 how Mat did not hesitate to hug him, after he'd just seen how he killed someone, how do you even do that? 😣

It's also interesting how it's all a parallel to the first time Mat saw Jin kill someone for him. It first happened back when they lived in the orphanage and that priest looking guy, was abt to beat the shit out of Matthew (honestly what a twisted asshole).

And Jin just like rn- was there to protect him. The main difference being that back then Jin doesn't almost die in Matthew's arms T - T
