Nons, face, food culture, and foodsss; NFFFs!
My stomach feels a little odd but Iām not sure if itās because Iām too full or if itās because of something I ate⦠A little bit of a āfirst world problemā. I guess a better way I could say it might be a non-problem? Iām using non-adventures and one of my friendās āsituationā is really a non-situation, so why not!
Backtracking a little though, hopefully you can figure out to where, I often feel like a unicorn or something amongst a group of girls. My facial cleaning routine is⦠actually, Iāll start with products. My facial products include, right now, nothing. I used up my tea tree oil facial scrub a while ago and havenāt bothered to get another one because it still contains polyethylene (microplastics). And I keep putting off doing some googling for another facial scrub that does not contain microplastics⦠Iāll get to it, I swear. But in the mean time, Iām okay without it apparently. It only gets used when I shower anyway. I have a lotion in a spray bottle that is for my face post-shower, though itās not explicitly for facial use (I think itās just body milk lotion or something, but itās quite light). Since I donāt wear makeup a whole lot anymore (not that I really wore it much to begin with, I guess; Iām currently putting makeup on maybe once a month or less), my makeup remover isnāt getting much use, and so I just wash my face with water. Splash, rub, splash, rub rub, splash⦠And ta-da, that about sums up facial routine. I have been told I have nice skin. Iām sorry.
This comes to mind because of a dinner conversation earlier tonight, where the other girls were mentioning what products they were using for pimples and etc. Iāve gotten the occasional pimple, but I have probably gotten less than twenty in my life?? Okay, well, on my face, anyway. I think I get head/scalp and back pimples more (TMI? Suck it up). Instead I get those whitehead kind of zits around my nose a whole lot. Donāt know why, but I swear it happens at least once a month or more. And they usually hang around for a few days and then pop and ooze and sting and heal and Iām sure you know the drill. Stretches out to a week or so. ANYWAY after hearing about all these things they use I felt odd because mine was just⦠water. Again, Iām sorry.
Dinner was at a seafood restaurant we somewhat visit frequently? Well, Iāve been there a handful of times now so it feels that way. They own their own fishing vessel so everything is always fresh! And something in the way they cook everything feels fresh too. Maybe itās just the seafood itself, who knows. I eat so much more seafood here than I do backā¦home⦠Sometimes I really donāt know where home is. A topic for another day though!
Iām a pescetarian but I leaned towards being more of a vegetarian and made the exception for sushi and whenever I had a lack of options. Not so much the case here, though I think itās because of the food culture. Vegetarian here mostly also means no alliums, which is probably in every dish otherwise. But thatās not an issue for me, the issue is more like⦠soup (meat/bone) broths and oils and mixed foods. Many things get cooked together here and itās common to use lard or cook a bit of meat with whatever. Just the culture. I guess I miss where everything is carefully labelled and whatnot because allergies and a whole slew of other health things.
Okay I have lost track of what else I wanted to talk about and this post has just become a bit of a mess. Last nightās dinner was at a hand made udon restaurant and lunch today was Mos Burger - OH I HAD CLAM CHOWDER. Iād been craving it since some time ago but itās like impossible to find here⦠well I found a canned version but the can was like a 1L can and that seemed wholly unnecessary. Maybe it was 2L, I forget. It was not as tasty as clam chowder in like⦠SFO. Sigh. Oh well. The second clock puzzle got finished and was brought in to be framed. Can't wait until we get the clocks back and whatnot! I'll hopefully post a photo, I think I linked my Instagram to this blog... we'll see next time I upload something!
Finished Lair of Dreams last night, it got spooky so I couldnāt sleep until I had seen the end, which meant hello 3:30am or so. I liked it slightly better than the first in the series! I think itās easier once the characters and the world are established and youāre a little more drawn into it. The real accomplishment of writing is drawing the reader in without them even knowing theyāve been trapped (in a good way). Almost done City of Fallen Angels. The plot twists are slightly less predictable, writing still stupid. Annnnd thatās all folks! My eyes are feeling dry perhaps Iāll have an early night (I rarely follow through for early nights whoops).
