Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life—and travel—leaves marks on you.

Reading was a joy, a desperately needed escape – I didn't read to learn, I was reading to read.

Time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted
A week ago I said I was going to write again and then I just kept putting it off until the next day, and the next, and the next... you get the picture. Now it’s about two weeks later again! Time passes in odd ways.
I’ve got one job for sure, never heard back from the other. I will check in with that tomorrow I guess... along with running a couple errands tomorrow that I’ve been putting off. Adult things!
But on the other hand I also started catching up with my TV shows. Fun line from FOTB... "It's called being an adult, you have to do stuff you don't want to do ALL THE TIME." Too funny.
In the past two weeks I have... had lunch with an old manager, it was nice to catch up. She has a kid! There was also dinner and board games with the crew from the club. I knew I should have ordered something on my own but ugghh. Whatever. Next time. And all my future times.
Codenames is a brain hurting game, though it can be quite a lot of fun. So is Dead of Winter, but that doesn’t nearly hurt your brain as much. I can’t believe I didn’t write about Dead of Winter last time, we played it so much over the span of three days or so.
My interviews seem to be less anxiety-ridden now, not that I’m any better at them really. But it’s one step forward, I guess.
I don’t think there’s anything else to write about right now, but hard to say because I obviously forget things since it’s been so long.
Wait - WHY DIDN’T YOU GUYS SHUT THE CRYPT DOOR? Idiots. I’m watching TVD. I can’t believe this show is getting renewed for an eighth season. I also can’t believe I still watch this show. It’s so dumb now. But it’s what really started me on TV shows I guess... And now I watch way too many.
Right, I need to bake today to use up the bananas. To recipes! More baking! Woo!

Let me tell you my weird habits as I come across them.
I avoid using any unnecessary dishes (bowls, utensils, etc.) when I prep/cook. Occasionally this means the cutting board, so I’m just cutting things in the air directly into a bowl or whatever (well, sometimes I just place things on top of other things already in the bowl and cut there too). Which really just takes up more time because it’s less efficient and the whole point of avoiding things to wash later is to save time (and water). Weird habits, yo.
Dear... blog,
I'm going to be actually living alone when this weekend hits. Only for three weeks or so, but still. I went from living at home, to living in a dorm residence, to a shared dorm apartment, to an apartment with my mum (okay I was briefly alone here but it didn't feel like it because we were students with so much time to spare so I was either always hanging with someone somewhere or someone came over to hang and occasionally sleep over), to another apartment (parents / boy were around), to provided shared accomodations, to a shared basement suite, to my parent's/brother's, and back to this apartment (parents/friend)... My friend is leaving for a school thing to some super rural area. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine, and a friend might visit me shortly after anyway (maybe like two weeks) so it'll be like a holiday I went back to my hometown for or something. It's just the whole idea of it is a little weird because I've never really actually lived alone. There's much less gloom and doom now, I heard back from not one, but TWO places! Still have interviews coming up, but I'm feeling pretty good about getting hired. I also feel less money stressed because I dipped into my savings for some more spending money. I mean, I'm not really stressed for money at all. I just keep a certain amount in my chequing and savings and I try super hard not to go below those. Listening to rap music just doesn't do much for me. I zone out way too easily and missing all the lyrics in a rap song just makes me go why do I even bother listening to it anyway... I guess I like more lyrical things. I did pull out my Spanish books, haven't opened them though. Haven't picked a programming language yet but I'm thinking I'll probably just expand on Python first because I learned a bit of it in school. There's an online course I enrolled for that is Python stuff I guess. Haven't restrung my zither to play yet... And... darn I forget oh wait right library books. My 1984 expired so I'm on hold for that again, whooops. Otherwise I have Perks of Being a Wallflower out and I thought I wouldn't be that into it at first but I did more reading yesterday night and it just kind of draws you in. I'm starting to really want to write a book and get published one day. Just cause. Why not? Man, I should keep a list of interesting facts about myself on hand. When asked on the spot, I can think of absolutely nothing. But after looking back (of course, ugh hindsight), I realize some more interesting things. - I have 36...er, had... now I have 35 cousins. - I can play a Chinese zither (I mean technically I guess I can play three instruments, four if you count a recorder... LOL. Hey omg if I pick up the ocarina too... As even more of an aside, I would also love to play a clarinet again. The piano is the other instrument, just fyi). - I have had something published before (I got published for a six word memoir! I think I have the book somewhere I think I will go dig through my two boxes of books after this.) - I really like reading, this includes not just books and magazines and articles and whatever but like setup manuals and instruction booklets for board games or whatever. - I developed a dislike and slight fear of that falling feeling where your stomach feels like it rises, buutttt I've rapelled down a waterfall before! - I've also seen the northern lights! That's all I've got for now. Other updates in my life... I won advance screening tickets for Me Before You so I saw that yesterday. It was... okay. I'm much too cynical for RomComs now. And I'm pretty sure the crying I did wasn't exactly what they intended. What else... Sleeping in an actual bed is the best thing everrrrr. I discovered a bubble tea place I'll probably like a lot and they opened a location nearby. Oh I predered HP ant the Cursed Child. And if possible will try and go to Chapters when they're open at midnight. CAUSE WHY NOT.

Reflecting
I need to do more things by myself. It’s like I have an aversion to doing things on my own? Like oh I’ll wait for someone else to do it and share x with them…? I don’t know. I guess I just don’t spend enough time actually by myself.
I learned yesterday that I don’t mind speaking up in a small group setting. I think I do okay in a group of six or seven. Anything bigger is just too tiring, it’s draining. And my personality is to let people talk, I don’t like talking over people or interrupting them. It doesn’t mean I have nothing to say, well, sometimes it probably does, but I just don’t feel the need to push my opinions and thoughts onto others so much. Blah.
Maybe who we are isn't so much about what we do, but rather what we're capable of when we least expect it.
Jodi Picoult

In times of storm and tempest, of indecision and desolation, a book already known and loved makes better reading than something new and untried ... nothing is so warming and companionable.
