Its a getting a bit warmer, everyday

a little more green is peaking out,

from beneath the ground.

My world is blooming again

a magnificent array of flowers

covering all that I can see.

Not every day is filled with sunshine

some days are consumed with clouds and rain,

but without the rain, nothing could bloom.

It is spring again

the time when the world reminds us

that we can begin again.

That the shadows are only passing

the light comes back

the sun still rises.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women, and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish."

Sometimes,

I imagine the life my mother could've had

One where she never met my father

never had her heart broken by him

never gave it all to a man who can't return it

One where she became an archeologist

and travelled the world

where she dances in the kitchen

without a care a world

In this life

I not there to hear her muffled cries at midnight

to see her force herself to be strong

because she thinks she has to,

for me

But she is happy

She doesn't have to carry so many burdens,

hold back so many tears

She gets to enjoy it all

the dreams she put on shelf

until they grew dusty and out of reach

If I could

I would make this world real

even if just for one day

she deserves that much

she so much more than what this life has given

Today we honor the lives of those lost to transphobia in the last year. Tomorrow we work toward a future where that number will be 0.

There is so much darkness in the world, but you are a light. Maybe just a little one, but so many little lights together burn so very bright.

You are loved and you are wanted, exactly as you are. Remember, despite everything the sun still rises
