The ‘open book’ appliques on this skirt are inspired by a patchwork design shared by @nonasuch. I am working on adapting the pattern into a circle skirt; will share once complete!
Two versions of the concept art are shown here - the first had the skirt coloured digitally, so I could insert different prints on the book covers. The second was coloured entirely by hand.

It’s not a super fancy outfit, but it’s fancier than I’d usually wear on a weekday, so I suppose it makes this a successful Fancy Tuesday.
(It helped that I had the afternoon off, because I can’t wear pretty things at the plant nursery, they just get torn and/or dirty.)
It was probably one of the last opportunities for short dress+leggings before it gets uncomfortably chilly in leggings (can you tell I absolutely do not understand how people can wear miniskirts with next to nothing under them in winter?) and I even remembered to put on a necklace (which is as much jewelry as I ever wear.)
In any case, thanks for starting Fancy Tuesday, I need to get into the habit of putting on nice clothes when I come home, because if I never wear them, how will I justify my plans for more pretty clothes?
I sell vintage/antique stuff for a living, so ‘do you ever have haunted items’ is a question i get semi-regularly.
i do not. but i also don’t believe in ghosts.
so i tell people that either the haunted items sense my skepticism and refuse to reveal themselves to me, or I’m right and ghosts aren’t real. for some reason this usually satisfies them.
oh interesting but that definitely tracks ndfdk. haunting as a special little club you gotta believe in
