booklist for the coming months
Ya girl has been working her brain hard thru understanding and memorising stuff since uni start. Which means that her ability 2 focus for longer than 3 seconds while reading is back.
Which is why I’ve compiled a short list of the books I want 2 read the next couple months. It’s all stuff concerning how we humans are affected by biology, our environment and each other: on a genetic level, on a hormonal level, on a neuronal level. Trauma is a central point in some of these. Check it out for some p. cool book titles, some of which are considered groundbreaking.
The Epigenetics Revolution - about how our environment or changes in it may affect how our genes work and thus how our bodies work;
Love and addiction - about how highly “addictive” and pleasurable chemicals, naturally produced and released by the body, are the pinnacle of our relationships;
Behave (Robert Sapolsky) - 6 words: the modern bible of human behavior
The brain that changes itself - a book that was, and still is, groundbreaking; about how our brains are able to recover from various forms of trauma, like traumatic events or strokes and others
The body keeps the score - a book about how traumatic events or periods affect the way our body and mind function, and how to treat fx PTSD.
