I would like to introduce: my most anticipated release of 2023!!!
Jamison has an amazing style & I've wanted to read their stories for a while now. SO happy they are finally being published. I am hungry for the ambitious black ballerina who makes deals in blood to succeed against the rich.
I Feed her to the Beast and the Beast is Me releases 08/29/2023, but it's available for pre-order right now.
Currently, Chapter 15 has writer’s block beating me over the head with a club, so I’ve not been able to write anything solid in about a week or so 🥲
So lemme tell you a bit about my main character! She’s a personal reflection of myself, despite the fact that she wholly identifies as a woman whereas I’m a lovely non-binary creature 🥰🥰🥰🥰💗

Tomboy Survival Guide by Ivan Coyote
“Tomboy Survival Guide warmly recounts Ivan’s adventures and mishaps as a different yet free-spirited tomboy, and maps their journey through treacherous gender landscapes and a maze of labels --that don’t quite stick, to a place of self-acceptance and an authentic and personal strength. These heartfelt, funny, and moving stories are about the culture of difference -- a ‘guide’ to being true to one’s self” (Goodreads summary).
This memoir, while well written, was not super memorable for me. I found the writing to be a bit slow, which was something I struggled with. To me, this memoir also read less like a book and more like a collection of essays (not a complaint, just an observation).
Trigger/Content Warnings: Sexism, I don’t think there was anything else.

Zoe reviews Body Music by Julie Maroh
Body Music is a graphic novel translated from French, written and drawn by nonbinary lesbian artist Julie Maroh, best known for their book Blue is the Warmest Color.
It’s a series of short 5-10 page vignettes about love and desire between different people in Montreal neighborhoods. The vignettes are connected by theme and location only. The book is packed with representation–there are queer…

Although I would have liked for this to be a little longer, I really enjoyed the art, characters, and historical context. Westerns are not usually my genre, but I was sucked into this story. Definitely pick it up for a quick, engaging read with a diversity of characters not often seen in this setting.

Genevra Littlejohn reviews Cinder Ella by S.T Lynn
Fairy tales are comforting because we know how they’re going to go. These days, with the advent of modern fantasy, there might be a lot of changes to the incidentals. Maybe the Prince is a marine biologist. Maybe the Evil Stepmother is a media mogul in NYC. Maybe it’s set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and Snow White is aided by some helpful zombies; maybe it’s set off planet and…
