So this is personal (non-got related) below...
Last summer, I submitted a manuscript to a local publishing house. Several months later, they replied that they would like for us to meet and discuss a potential publication and stuff. So we met. They gave me several points for re-work, etc, etc. I went back home and started the re-work. Then, last month, my editor (Iâm gonna call her my editor) emailed me, asking me how it was going, if I had any questions or needed help. I was a bit too neck-deep to think of specific questions at that point, so instead I sent her the annotated word file, with the first 100 pages revised and a whole bunch of notes in the margin. she thanked me and said she was going to take a good look at it. Then tonight, she sent me another email. She had read the first 100 pages carefully and wouldâve liked for us to meet around the beginning of November if possible, at my university or a cafĂŠ or something, so that we could talk about it more and so she could âhelp me progressâ. I said âsure!â and âthank you so muchâ and âwhenever it worked best for herâ and sent her my reply. Then I closed my laptop and went home, and as I was walking I, em, had a bit of a âshiiiiiiiit what if they changed their minds about my manuscript, they saw that I couldnât correct/edit as properly as they had hoped, and were too nice to tell me by emailâ moment. What if the âhelp me progressâ part meant âgiving you advice for any future new attempts you might make at novel writing/so you might improve and do better next timeâ type of thing? Anyway, I do believe some of you have some experience in the Great Publishing World so Iâm tagging you @lawonderlandwriter @muttpeeta @oadara @winelover1989 @ladyofdragonstone or anybody else who might have some input on this. @hamliet too, you seem knowledgeable about this. And anybody else, really. But! Please, please, feel free to ignore. You donât need to answer this. If you think âwut, does she takes me for a mind reader?â, I 100% understand XD. If you think âwut, does she think I can see the future?â, I also 100% understand. If you think that I need thicker skin and a nerve pill, youâre probably right. Iâm just asking in case some of you were familiar with the politeness jargon of editors đ. Oh! @mysnowdragons you too, arenât you a writer as well?
