Queer Up North!
Hi! Iâm Alexander, a photographer and transguy from Lincolnshire in the UK. Iâm currently working with the LGBT charity Stonewall, as a Young Campaigner!Â
As a personal project for my campaign, I am starting a photo project called âQueer Up North.â The project would see me working with a variety of queer people form different backgrounds, taking photos of them going about their day to day lives, and then asking them to write a piece of text explaining how their experience growing up in the North has influenced and shaped their identity, and how the reactions and prejudices from their local community has affected their ability to self express in the way that makes them most comfortable. I would also be giving other subjects a disposable camera and asking them to take photos of what they think effects their life and identity. It would also be cool to include some artwork or creative pieces from participants. Â
I need a wide range of participants from the North of England, so if youâre interested or would like more information, please fill in this form, it should take no longer than two minutes! (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSebYUs-elIng0mQSGAjJuqzBMf9x4CleWGbHqgtfweo6cgjMA/viewform)Â
PLEASE REBLOG TO SPREAD THE WORDÂ
tomorrow is the start of my non-binary portraits photography projectâs first ever miniature, haphazardly planned, 3 country, week long faux-tour
manchester newcastle glasgow birmingham swansea london & home
and though i just had to fork out ÂŁ100 for a bunch of transport (and a hostel in birmingham), iâm so excited to meet over half a dozen nb folks, get to know them some and hopefully make some portraits of them that theyâll dig. 7 days on the road (well, mostly traintracks actually) ahead i am HYPED and NERVOUS AS HECK
Hi hello,
If there are any non-binary/trans people from the UK out there I need some help.
So I'm afab non-binary/a gender and I've never really felt like I needed any medical intervention in my transition, like I bind sometimes, my clothes are pretty genderless, I'm about to cut all my hair off, I'm doing pretty good with stopping the dysphoria. The only issue is that once a month my period comes along and BAM I get hit with a wave of a horrible amount of dysphoria for like 10 days or so. Every. Month.
In a dream world I'd just get a hysterectomy and never have to think about it again but lord knows the NHS won't pay for me to loose an organ when I'm "still a young woman and you could want children one day, you never know". So I want to go to a GP and get birth control or something to stop my period, but I'm gay so not using it as birth control and I never really get bad physical side effects of my period so I can't cite that as an excuse for them either.
Basically does anyone know how easy it is to cite gender dysphoria as a reason for getting birth control without having to make it overly complicated. Or am I just going to have to lie to my GP?
Gender-variant people needed for web-series
Hi, my name is Sami Bradley and I am a documentary filmmaker currently studying at the University of South Wales Film School. I am genderfluid, non-binary and prefer she/they.
I am currently in my third year of University, and for one of my final projects I aim to start a web series on gender-nonconforming people, with a focus on gender identity over sexuality. I want viewers to see that we are people with intricate views and opinions, with flaws, ambition and personality, by involving the subjects in each stage of the filmmaking process.
I am looking for participants of a wide range of gender identities to get involved in this project in any way they can. This includes participating in interviews, sharing  views and stories, or simply offering suggestions for content.
I am also looking for people who are willing to be featured as subjects in the series; this will include sharing personal stories, offering opinions on a range of issues, and allowing yourself to be filmed in various situations.
If you are interested, want to know more, or just curious please feel free to contact me via my email [email protected]. Please share this and get the word out, as I feel this is a well deserving project that could benefit our community.

I guess you've already found this: kcl,ac,uk/college/policyzone/assets/files/governance_and_legal/Trans_Equality_Statement_Procedures2011-12,pdf (replace commas with fullstops)
Yes, thank you!
If anyone is interested, thereâs also this page made by Kingâs LGBT group (in 2011?). According to the page, there are gender neutral bathrooms on every campus, it details how the university can support transitioning/GIC referrals, blood tests and RLE, and that gender/sex can be recorded as âOtherâ. Also, name changes/title changes/gender changes on all uni documentations doesnât require any âproofâ, it seems, which is nice!
Iâm really, really glad they have such obvious and comprehensive trans policy, and itâs one of the main reasons I would choose Kingâs over Barts. However, Iâm conflicted, because I loved Barts - so Iâll email them and find out their policies, and post on this blog once theyâve replied!
