Boyfriend just makes a disagreeable grunt and settles down further, pretending to be a lapdog
Following the ICE murder of Renee Good and an assault on the state by federal immigration forces, a labor-community coalition is calling for
MINNEAPOLIS — Unions and community groups gathered in front of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota this morning to announce a day of “no work, no school, no shopping” on January 23 to oppose the ferocious assault on the state by federal immigration authorities.
“We are facing a tsunami of hate from our own federal government,” Abdikarim Khasim, a Minnesota rideshare driver, told the crowd. “We’re going to shut it down on the 23rd. We’re going to overcome this.”

THIS FRIDAY, MAY 1, IS MAY DAY!
What is May Day?
May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, is a holiday that celebrates workers and their rights. The holiday dates back to 1886 when workers fought for the right to an 8 hour work day.
Why is it important?
May Day is important because workers are important. All of us are workers, many of us in the service industry. The world relies on our labor to keep things moving, and we deserve a day to celebrate and demand better conditions. Here in Missouri, the MO Workers' Center has put together a service workers' bill of rights that outlines our demands.
May Day 2026 is a NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION.
What does this mean for you?
The gist: No School, No Work, No Shopping.
No School: If you are a student, skip class and see what actions your student organizations are planning.
No Work: If you are able to; call off work on Friday, get your shift covered, or organize with your coworkers to strike that day. This is both an act of protest and an act of self care. We are workers, we work hard, and we deserve the day off to celebrate our hard work.
No Shopping: Don't spend money! Get your gas refill on Thursday. No online shopping. No Walmart. No Target. Go grocery shopping another day. If you absolutely must, give your money to *small* local businesses and individual artists. (I am aware that art walk is on Friday-- do not be discouraged to give money to individual artists. Many rely on the income they make at art walk, and those artists are workers too!)
What else can you do?
Find an action near you!
Look into what actions are taking place in your city! This is a national day of action, and millions of people nationwide are planning to protest. In my city alone, there are projected to be at least 10k people in attendance at our May Day rally. Take the day off, protest all afternoon, party all night! You deserve to be celebrated, and you deserve to be surrounded by other like-minded workers who are all fighting alongside you.
This national day of action is a warm up for the projected mass action on May Day 2028. If we want to make a real impact, we need as many people as possible to join us now.
I hope to see you all participating in whatever way you can, and happy May Day to all!
Do whatever the fuck you can to do this. We need to stand up and be loud about this shit now. Go join protests, anything to make this as big as possible
