#i was listening to a podcast abt empress elisabeth of austria (dont ask why i fell into a rabbit hole) and#i don't remember what exactly the two hosts were talking about#but they mentioned something like: oh back then bc life expectancy was so low you were practically a grandpa at 35.#NO!!!!!!#fucking hell do your research if you blab into a microphone#yes life expectancy was low because a lot of diseases were lethal and because lack of hygiene standards led to a lot of infant deaths so#average life expectancy was LOW yes. Sure. But people still turned 80? 90? Even over a hundred in rare cases#it's just that the chance to die young was much higher#BUT YOU WEREN'T A GRANDPA AT 35.#idk why that just annoyed me sm and why i'm ranting into the tags here but here you go i guess#anyway you don't need a fucking degree to know this shit.
