Kasumi no kamae
In this video from Koyama Kendo,the sensei is fighting in Kasumi no Kamae, although I've seen it referenced for use against jodan, I wasn't convinced. Against nito however it seems to be quite effective:
Kasumi no Kamae (้ใฎๆงใ), or "Mist Stance," is a lesser-known kamae in kendo, primarily associated with classical kenjutsu schools.
We can see in this screenshot how it is applied to kendo. The tip of the shinai is above the opponents, this portects the kote and also disables the shoto of the opponent.
Don't hestitate to try this next time you face one of those pesky Nito fighters ๐!
