I started THE MAID by Nita Prose today! I have really enjoyed the first few chapters and seeing the world through the eyes of Molly - which is at times really heartbreaking. SYNOPSIS: Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job. She delights in donning her crisp uniform each morning, stocking her cart with miniature soaps and bottles, and returning guest rooms at the Regency Grand Hotel to a state of perfection. But Molly’s orderly life is upended the day she enters the suite of the infamous and wealthy Charles Black, only to find it in a state of disarray and Mr. Black himself dead in his bed. Before she knows what’s happening, Molly’s unusual demeanor has the police targeting her as their lead suspect. She quickly finds herself caught in a web of deception, one she has no idea how to untangle. Fortunately for Molly, friends she never knew she had unite with her in a search for clues to what really happened to Mr. Black—but will they be able to find the real killer before it’s too late? #TheMaid #NitaProse #Thriller #Fiction #CurrentlyReading #AmReading #Suspense #Mystery #WineAndCrimeBookClub https://www.instagram.com/p/Cii-0LSrAY1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“We’re all entitled to a bad day now and again, I heard Gran say in my head. But when they are all bad days, with no pleasant ones, then it’s time to reconsider things.”

#Book 9 in the #22booksin2022 challenge - #TheMaid by #NitaProse I’m glad I’m finally getting around to catching up on all the #reading I did not do in February because the Olympics were on and there was 3 weeks of curling to watch and not much sleep to be had, much less reading. This was another selection from the #bookofthemonthclub My coworker who got me into #bookofthemonth really liked this one too and we have similar tastes in #books - #murder #mysteries so there was a good chance I’d like this one. #MollyTheMaid being different or a #weirdo as some of her coworkers said is probably just a combination of her being on the autism spectrum and living a sheltered life. Spoiler alert: her gran dies of pancreatic cancer, but I guess that’s not much of a spoiler since her grandma’s death is mentioned on the inside jacket synopsis right off the bat. Not gonna lie, I now have a HUGE craving for Olive Garden after reading this book. #22booksin2022challenge #novel #fiction #thrillsandchills #sunday #weekend https://www.instagram.com/p/CayLS-ips8t/?utm_medium=tumblr
#HereIRead The Maid, by Nita Prose— the story of a neurodivergent woman with an obsessive love for cleaning, which helps her in the profession as a maid. She doesn’t have many friends, and she relies on help from her grandmother’s rules to navigate any social situations around her. But one day she finds herself accused of murder, and for the rest you have to read the book. This was a quick read for me, and I kinda binge-read it in under three days. The plot of the story was predictable for most part, but it’s the narration from Molly’s point of view that makes it an interesting read. As a reader you can see the hints and signs that Molly misses a lot of times. Although the character development seemed convenient for plot development and not realistic for the character, I still look forward to the onscreen adaptation of Molly. 💛 Follow me on Bookstagram 💛
