You expected to be done with rumours and gossip when you graduated from high school. You didn’t expect to still be surrounded by all that pettiness when you got to university. One year of peace without any drama — was that too much to ask for?
“Do I want to know why is everyone staring at me and talking behind my back?” you asked exasperatedly as you looked around the campus.
“They’re not talking behind your back,” Johnny reassured you, though the tone of his voice didn’t really sound confident. While he was easily one of the best liars in your group, it was hard for him to lie to you.
“Okay, then why is everyone staring at me, then?”
“Gosh, not everything is about you!” Jungwoo sassed at you and you raised a brow at him. He immediately hid himself behind Johnny who simply laughed. You then turned to Mark, the only one you could count on in this group.
Well, him and–
“Rumour has it that you slept with Jaehyun,” Mark admitted quickly and your jaw dropped in surprise. “And everyone thinks that you made that fact up and that it’s pathetic of you.”
You gasped at the words and Mark immediately raised his hands in defense.
“Those are not my words!”
You spent the next few minutes spluttering, not knowing how to make sense of the situation. How on Earth did people arrive to the conclusion that you and Jaehyun had sex? Not only did you consider yourself to be someone low-key, Jaehyun was only a friend, for God’s sake!
(Albeit, a friend that was too handsome for his own good.)
“Well, here comes Jaehyun.”
Speaking of your friend, he looked a bit pissed off. The rumours probably reached him too. You internally sighed to yourself. How were you going to explain to Jaehyun how he got caught up in the mill of rumours? You could only hope that this wasn’t going to make your relationship weird.
Especially since you two didn’t sleep with each other.
“Jae, I can explain–”
Jaehyun didn’t even bother greeting you or your friends when he suddenly grabbed your face and pressed your lips against his. Your eyes widened in disbelief, not exactly sure of the situation that was going on at the moment. On one hand, your rational side wanted to push Jaehyun away. Yet, on the other hand, you couldn’t help but think just how great of a kisser Jaehyun was.
So, naturally, you snaked your arms around his neck and kissed him back.
“My eyes! My fucking virgin eyes!” Haechan dramatically screeched in the background.
You pulled away when you felt like things might have escalated if you weren’t going to stop, but kept your arms around Jaehyun’s neck. Your brows furrowed in confusion as you played with his hair.
“What was that for?” you asked.
Was it a necessary question since you could have just enjoyed it — no.
But who in their right mind would show up out of nowhere to simply kiss you in front of everyone?
Jaehyun shrugged and tightened his hold on your hips. “That ought to teach them.”
“Teach… them what?”
His eyes darkened and he only smirked down at you.
