“y/n, y/n please listen to me.”

Niki whispered softly tears clouding her eye sight as she watched you remove your clothes from your shared dresser and closet.

“there’s nothing you could say that would make me stay niki.” you told her your voice stern. “yes i know that but i just want you to hear me out.”

you shook your head letting out a bitter laugh. “we’ve been together for three years Nik! three fucking years! i have never given you a reason to doubt my loyalty but i go out of town for a week ON A BUSINESS TRIP.”

the raise in volume of your voice caused Niki to flinch but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.

“and my phone just happens to break the day i come back, but i figured ‘oh well nik knows i’ll be home by tonight no harm in getting a drink or two with some friends i saw at the airport’.”

Niki bit her lip internally beating herself up for allowing her overprotectiveness and trust issues cloud her better judgment.

deep down the pink headed girl knew you’d never purposely hurt her. and you had made that clear many times during your relationship.

the sound of suitcase wheels awoken niki from her thoughts as she watched you pace around the room checking for anything you had forgotten.

“so that’s it?”

You continued looking through the room trying to seem uninterested in what your girlfriend ex-girlfriend was going to say.

“three years and you’re just gonna give up?”

“i’m not giving up. i’m removing myself from the situation. weather that be temporary or permenent.”

knowing toiletries would be something you’d need you headed towards the bathroom to grab your toothbrush, and whatever else you needed.

“permanent…” that would felt like a stab in Nikis’ heart. this was the first relationship she had that she felt like she could be herself. and she could never see herself being with anyone else but you.

the two of you would spend your time talking about your future together, how many pets, cars, bathrooms, and even how many kids you two could have. she just didn’t expect things to end this way. especially not since it was her fault.

“i’m gonna head out now um.” you looked up at the girl in front of you for the first time since your fight had started, now noticing her bloodshot eyes, runny nose, and tear stained cheeks.

“i’ll come back at some point when you’re not home to get whatever else and just leave the key in the mailbox.”

everything in your body was telling you to go comfort the girl that was falling apart in front of you, but your feet wouldn’t allow it. you knew if you wanted this relationship to work space was definitely something that was needed.

when she didn’t respond and just stared at you hopelessly you made your way over to your suitcase ready to go not knowing how long you’d be able to last in the small room.

“goodbye niki.” after hearing the front door close the small girl curled herself up into a ball on your side of the bed. it was her fault. she did this. she was the reason you left. she could never forgive herself for that.
