so, I got this idea, and I took FOREVER to write it and I don't exactly love how it turned out, but I did work on it for 2 weeks so I'm still posting it. Enjoy!

Y/N was taught that you can never trust the fae. She knew they manipulate with the looks they give, the words they say, the moves they make. She grew up believing she would never have to encounter one, let alone grow fond of one.

That all changed when one walked into her coffee shop. Only then did she understand how captivating they are. From their beautiful eyes to their perfect nose and plump lips. Only then did she understand the challenge of staying away from one.

“Could I get one Café au lait, please?” the Fae said, not looking up from her phone. Her angelic voice drew Y/N in, like a moth to a flame, leaving her wanting to hear more. Her delicate blonde locks sat elegantly on her shoulders. They covered her eyes, which Y/N believed were just downright gorgeous. Her lips were pursed in concentration as she was typing away on her phone. She was tall, at least taller than Y/N.

After a moment of silence, the Fae looked up and her stunning blue eyes met Y/N’s. Her eyes reminded her of the ocean, beautiful, but dangerous. Right, dangerous. The Fae are dangerous. That realization seemed to end Y/N’s stupid thoughts. “Yes, one Café au lait coming right up. What is your name?”

The girl shook her head like she was broken out of a trance “Niki.”

“Well, Niki, your coffee will be ready in a minute. Will that be all?”  she wrote her name on her cup. Y/N tried to avoid eye contact, she did, but how could one not look at those eyes?

“That will be all for today, thank you.” She smiled. At her. The Fae - or Niki, as Y/N now knew - smiled, and the smile was directed at her. She put 2,50€ on the counter and turned to find an empty table, which was not hard, considering the coffee shop was practically empty.

"No problem, have a nice day!" Y/N smiled back and watched as Niki went to sit at the table in the corner. The dim lights of the Café illuminated her perfectly and made her look ethereal. Y/N just could not keep her eyes off the Fae, no matter how hard she tried. It was like she was stuck in a trance.

Y/N made the coffee Niki ordered.

She turned to her manager: "I'm gonna take a small break." Y/N said, clearing her throat and looking back at Niki. She cleaned her sweaty hands on her black apron, and with the coffee in hand made her way to Niki's table.

"Hey." she said, standing in front of the blonde.

Niki looked up at her from the book she was reading: "Hello!"

Neither of them spoke for a moment.

"Here's your coffee!" Y/N said as she placed the coffee on the table.

Niki thanked her and took a sniff of the hot beverage. The bittersweet smell of coffee filled her mouth with saliva.

Y/N pointed to the unoccupied chair at the table: "Do you mind?" she asked.

"No, I don't. Take a seat!" Niki said enthusiastically, shooting the waitress a warm smile while she set the book aside. "You make one hell of a coffee."

"Thanks, two years of experience does that to you.." Y/N spoke.

"You've been working here for two years?" Niki inquired.

Y/N has been working here since she was 18. She grew very fond of the owner, Miss Miller, and has never found the courage to try and find another job, despite Miss Millers attempts.

"Yes, ever since I was 18. I used to be a customer before, though. I gotta tell you, the Irish Cappuccino here is killer."

Niki softly laughed at that. She laughed at a joke that Y/N just made. If she could get high on the sound of her laugh, she would. "Well, then I know what I'll try next time I'm here!" Niki responded.

"What brought you to this coffee shop?" Y/N asked.

"I was just searching for a quiet place to read, and here is just that." Niki explained. "The park was too loud."

"Oh! Sorry, I'll leave you to read-" Before Y/N could finish the sentence, Niki interrupted her.

"No, no. Stay. I like talking to you."

it wasn’t a date. 

sure, the two of you were out getting lunch together, just the two of you. and yeah, maybe you’d messaged your friends positively giddy at the prospect of you and niki hanging out together. and yeah, maybe you’d put in a bit of extra effort in your appearance and picked out the nicest place you knew and yes, maybe, you had been thinking about it non stop since you’d organised it. 

you’d arrived early, and waited with an air of casual politeness when niki arrived. the two of you had been sitting at the restaurant for nearly two hours, and you had no intention of going anywhere any time soon. 

she was telling a story about her and her brother when they were kids, one that had her giggling between words, and you were utterly enamoured. she finished her story and looked down. “oh, you’re done?” she gestured to your empty plate and hers still with food on it. “hang on, i’ll hurry up.”

“no,” you shook your head almost a little too eagerly, hoping she wouldn’t notice. “a pretty girl and an almost empty restaurant? we can stay as long as you like.” your tone was light, able to be played off as a joke if she didn’t feel the same. 

niki got awfully quiet and you thought for a second you had made her uncomfortable. before you speak up and apologise, though, she was opening her mouth. “i think you’re pretty. you think i’m pretty?”

you sighed, outwardly relieved. “the prettiest.”

You and a bunch of others were having a party for Halloween. As much as you loved party’s with your friends, your social battery was at 1% right now and you didn’t feel like being around anyone.

As more and more people came into the small apartment, you started to feel squished. And you couldn’t exactly breathe either.

Wait.

You couldn’t breathe.

The more you thought about it, the more you became aware of it. You started clawing at your chest, gripping your shirt, trying to get air through your lungs. The room started to spin and you leaned against the wall and slid down, trying your hardest not to cry.

But , from across the room, Niki saw you on the ground, head to your knees, and breathing very heavily. She knew what was happening so she quickly excused herself from the person she was talking to and rushed over to you.

Niki placed her hand on your back to let you know she was there, and started rubbing your back gently. “Love, how about we go outside? How do you feel about that? Just to get some air?” Niki asked you as you looked up at her with glossy eyes. You nodded quickly, not being able to say something from the lack of air.

Niki gave you a hand and helped you up from the ground. She led you out the apartment and down the stairs that led you guys outside.

“Ok. Now just follow my breathing, ok? In and out.” Niki tells you as she motions for you to breathe with her.

You tried your best to breathe in time with her and slow your breathing. Eventually, your breathing slowed down enough for you to breathe in fully and let out a shaky sigh.

“Thank you, bubs. So much.” You whispered to her as you grabbed her hands and kissed them.

“It’s no problem! I’ll always help you babes. I promise.” Niki said back to you as she pulled you to sit on the step that led into the apartment complex.

“Wanna tell me what happened?” Niki asked you. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” She reassured you.

You shook your head. “No it’s fine. It just got really crowded and i was just so overwhelmed, I kinda forgot how to breathe.” You smiled at Niki, as she giggled.

You felt bad for having her miss the party because of you. It was fun! I mean at least from what you saw it was. But you just get so overwhelmed and nervous around a lot of people, you couldn’t really help it. But you still felt guilty. “I’m sorry. You’re out here missing the party because of me. You should go back and have fun.” You said as you looked at your hands and played with your fingers.

Niki furrowed her eyebrows. Why would you think she’d want to leave you? She wouldn’t leave you in a million years. And especially not like this. “No! I’m not leaving. We are going to sit here and you’re going to enjoy my company ok?” She said, in a playful demanding voice.

You laughed. “Ok! Ok. Fine, but only if we can talk about books and music. I have some more suggestions for you if you need some.” You looked at her with a questioning look on your face.

“Fine! Come here.” Niki laughed as she wrapped and arm around your shoulders. You rested your head on her shoulder and held her free hand. You played with the jewelry she was wearing for her costume. You both decided to go as a duo and her side of the costume required a bunch of rings.

Lucky you.

“I love you. You know that right.” Niki said to you. You looked up at her and smiled. You kissed her on the cheek and nuzzles your head back into her neck.

“Yes I do my love. And I love you too.” You told her, your face red and having a big smile on your face.

Niki laughed and kissed your forehead. “Honestly this is nice. We should’ve just done this.” She admitted.

“I agree. Fully.” You agreed.

“Wanna go home?” Niki asked. You looked at her and nodded quickly. She laughed and stood up. “Ok let’s go say bye to a few people and hit the road. Ok?” She asked you.

You nodded and followed her inside. She grabbed her purse and your bag as you took it from her. You both said goodbye to some friends and left. You and Niki only lived a few minutes away from the apartment so it was an easy walk.

As you walked, you took Niki’s hand and pulled her closer to you. “Happy 1 year my love.” You said as you looked at her.

“Happy 1 year.” Niki giggled and kissed your hand.

Damn you were lucky.

"Has anyone kissed Y/n?"You read out.

"Nope," Wilbur answered.

"Never" Puffy replied.

"You've never been to heaven, have you," Niki says quoting a song

"Niki!"You exclaim laughing. Everyone's jaws were dropped

"I think I should tell you guys a story," You say, you start telling the story, as the memory flashes in your head,

I walked around the halls, hearing yelling in the hallway nearby.

"It's disgusting" I hear a teacher say to a short blonde-haired girl. The girl I liked, sounded taboo but I couldn't help it.

"What's disgusting Mrs?" I ask the teacher as a crowd forms around us, noticing me speaking up to a teacher.

"Liking and kissing the same gender, "The teacher told me

"Don't deny it if you've never tried it"I tell her, she looks at me gobsmacked.

"It's modern times now, get with it"I defend, the girl looks at me gratefully, and my heart flutters.

'"This is disgraceful," She says

"If it's so disgraceful, you really need to get your eyes checked, you'll see it's just love," I tell her. I look at the girl again, she nods and smiles. I pull her in to kiss her in front of the teacher who stomps away, and everyone cheers.

"Wow so Y/n was the quiet girl, who spoke up to a teacher," Tommy says

"When you told me England was very rainy. I didn't expect think it would be like this" Niki said to her partner. "We can't do anything"Niki continued, as they sat in the cozy cafe. Y/n smiled as Niki gave them a puzzled look. They grabbed Niki by the hand and led her outside.

The raindrops hit there bodies as they exited shelter.

"What are you thinking?" Niki questions looking up at Y/n

"May I have this dance?" Y/n asks her, holding their hand out. Niki grabbed it and began dancing with Y/n in the rain, twirling and spinning about.

People who were near by stopped and stared as the two of them dance with no care in the world, giggling and laughing as they went.

It soon slowed back down like it was the beginning and Y/n pulled Niki in for a small delicate kiss

"Lets go home and get warm"They suggested.

"Sounds good, I was wrong you can do something in this weather"Niki says, Y/n chuckles.
