Cliff Martinez flexed his electronica muscles in order to create a score comprised of 90’s synth pop rhythms and moody ambience for “Drive”. The score will irritate conventional score fans but please those looking for an ambient getaway (especially during an evening midnight drive around the city). The score is mixed in with a few vocal tracks, Kavinsky’s “Nightcall” being a highlight and the best way to open up the album. Although the score itself is nothing special, it is consistent and in line with Refn’s stylized art house direction - 6.5/10.
