Filiz Ahmet as Nigar Kalfa and Okan Yalabik as Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha Muhtesem Yüzyil (2011 - 2014)
Things Nibrahim and Valarney have in common:
- The physical types of the lovers, which yes I must confess does matter to me in shipping. Filiz Ahmet is a good fit for Valancy. The men aren’t that similar but they are tall kumral guys - similar enough.
- The lovers’ ages. Late twenties-early thirties.
- Capable and smart and hardworking woman who is a late bloomer romantically and sexually.
- The woman was the guy’s “fangirl” before she was his lover.
- The woman is the one who initiates and drives the relationship.
- The man is reluctant to say “I love you”.
- Their relationship is a carefree running away from the outside world and responsibility, them being in their “own little world”.
- Perfect mixture of domesticity and sensuality (well, as sensual as Montgomery can be).
- The woman is running away from her bondage in a life where she had to/has to be meek and obedient, but her love for the guy is another bondage.
- The man praises the woman’s unusually “slanted” eyes.
- Ibrahim calling Nigar “woman” (which their anti-shippers like to proclaim that proves that he doesn’t love her) and Barney calling Valancy “girl”.
- The whole relationship existing because of the guy’s previous upper-class love interest having been snobbish towards him.
Things Nibrahim and Valarney don’t have in common:
- Barney actually loving and respecting Valancy.
- No violence in Valarney!
I'm going to speak my truth I just intellectually and emotionally and existentially and ideologically cannot see Nigar kissing comatose Ibrahim as sexual harassment. I just don't see it. At all. I understand it rationally the way I would understand someone explaining a very complicated math equation to me, but I don't organically see it myself and I never will. And no tbh I don't think I would see it as sexual harassment if the genders were reversed either (if the status of the characters were exactly the same tho). Shoot me I'm tired of pretending I see sth that's not there #for me. Personally. The way I saw the scene, she thought he was gonna die, she was in love with him, they DID have sex so this was technically her lover and she gave him a CHASTE kiss on the lips ONCE and caressed his cheeks. Big fucking deal. It's not sexual harassment it's just raw and romantic and sweet and if Ibo saw it in a time machine he would agree
I think they filmed the Nigar and İbrahim sex scene before the actress had that operation on her neck. Because after it she goes right back to covering her neck.

Her eyes are nothing like the stars
The living flame is burning inside them
One more ordinary evening has passed
But with her it's different every time
Is such a Nibrahim (and a bit anti-hatibo) piece of lyrics from russian song to me <3
