Just a little progress report. Building is slow - whenever I get around to actually doing some. The manor is completely built so it’s just a matter of texturing, lighting and object placement which is gonna takethe most time cause it’s spread out over five different levels (I had to split it up with loading screens, I ran out of rooms) and I’ve started working on the second level of the main adventure which is that big pyramid in a canyon so I’m working on all the platforming while still trying to keep it looking pretty. Texturing that canyon is gonna be a B-IC-T-H. But it’s going well. I’m enjoying the level building process.
Not the most exciting progress report - as I said building is slow and it’s whenever I get around to doing a bit but the main manor is pretty much done so I’m moving on to areas that are their own self-contained levels because I maxed out the room limit. So the gym, the race track, and two other areas are separate levels that can be accessed from the main HUB manor area. I’m thinking it all should start in the gym so Lara can guide the player through the controls like she used to and as you explore more areas of Croft Manor will become accessible to the player. The gym is still looking really bare though. I’m taking inspiration from Legend/Anniversary with the gym since the rest of the Manor is rooted in the Classic Manor but I’m wary of adding too much detail to it while I’m still working on Lara’s moveset. She can do more things than she could in TR4. But of course I still want the gym to look nice - especially if it’s the opening segment of the level.
I’ve made more progress in learning how to use the level editor in the last few weeks on and off then I ever have in the last 16 years. I dunno, it’s just clicking this time. I’m not gonna jinx it though - I’ve failed to start so many ideas with the LE but I would so love to make one some day.
Just a test. Not sure about the actual title yet but the mesh turned out quite well. There was a lot more fish and everything was working perfectly until I opened it in meta2tr to change the weights on the logo to make it shimmer. For some reason that made all the sharks and barracudas and shoals of fish camera shy.

Still playing around with the level editor here and there. Decided to have a look at the enemy behaviour in the game. The mummies are hilarious. When they can’t get to Lara, they huddle together like flamingos!
I need some help here. I'm trying to install the Tomb Raider Next Generation Level Editor and I keep getting the error message "Run-time error '76': Path not found" when I double click on the TRNG_Installer. And I don't understand, I've had it installed before and it worked smoothly, and the TRLE installed just fine. I'd really appreciate some help!
The Haunted House conversation 3
This time, it's conversation compilation on our inability to perceive the Tomb Raider world as players. We have been level creators for way too long.
Pablo: I'm afraid to go down there because I have the strangest feeling the skeleton will come alive.
Arakanga: I don't think so. It's positioned on a wrong part of the sector.
--------
Pablo: (pushes a switch) I really hope this isn't a timed switch.
Arakanga: It can't be...it's a wrong lever type.
Pablo: Don't!
--------
Pablo: We'll position Lara exactly one sector before the gap.
---------
Pablo: The only thing I disliked so far are the sounds the carpet makes.
Arakanga: Those are basic.
---------
Arakanga: Do you think that's just a faulty texture or...?
Pablo: You mean this? That's probably just a wrong texture, someone put...oh my God, do you realize how horribly we're talking?! The things we're discussing!
Arakanga: Sorry!
---------
Arakanga: If it's a double door, you can open it.
Pablo: Can't open these. But it's not a texture, so we should be able to open them.
Arakanga: You're starting to talk editor again.
Pablo: Sorry!
---------
Arakanga: That block is weird.
Pablo: Yep. But it's...just weird.
Arakanga: A wrong texture....AAAARGH!
(and that's why you should never become a level builder)
