It's how they managed to convey what might be the most important bit of Fiona's characterization without calling explicit attention to it. And I don't mean the depression.

It starts with the first thing you see before even reaching the store page :

The game's logo, in a very fancy font but falling apart. That dark purple stuff engulfing Fiona, positioned in a way that's vaguely reminiscent of tentacles without being cliché, especially as it blends with her hair. And of course, they eyes. A time-tested imagery for indie horror games trying to hook Steam users. Where would Mouthwashing or SIGNALIS even be without them.

It's a solid 10/10 of a header as far as I'm concerned. It does a pretty fantastic job of subtly conveying the game's genre and visual aesthetics, and even hints at being a deconstruction of some sort trough the crumbling title.

The thing about the eyes, though, is that it's not *just* imagery. Spoilers under the cut for the first half of the demo, so about 20-30 minutes of gameplay.

Neverway, the horror, life simulation, and action RPG hybrid co-created by the pixel artist behind Celeste, will launch for Switch and PC via Steam in October, with “more consoles to be announced,” developer Coldblood Inc. announced. A free “Prologue” demo is available now for PC.
