“Hey...hey, listen to me, Alice. You’re ok. You’re safe. Take your time.”

It’s kindness she doesn’t allow herself. then again, she doesn’t deserve it. Alice does. Alice deserves every good thing in this Earth, and then more.

“Alice, you can cry if you need to. I’m here. I just need you to remember that, ok? I got you.”

Carefully as to not cause her any more distress, she takes her hands between hers and holds them, squeezing them as gently as she can manage. You’re not alone. I am here for you. 

She allows Alice to lead her into bed, not really able to protest. But she’s not that tired, she swears! She’s just a little worn out.Her hand closes around Alice’s wrist as she tucks her in, keeping her close. She doesn’t want a single second of her company to go to waste, and yet here she is, falling asleep.

“You’re too good for this world, Alice.”

And then she lets her go, a placid smile on her face.She almost says it back. Almost.Because she already made the mistake of not saying it before, and it cost her.She’s promised herself she won’t lose anyone else.

You’re too sweet, too good, too pure, and we love you A LOT, ok? 

Alice has earned a special place in Lindsay’s heart, their interactions are beautiful, and I love how Lindsay’s learning to care for others thanks to Alice (and Nona. Lindsay’s eternally grateful for Nona). You’ve gone a long way with Alice’s character, and I absolutely ADORE her internal dialogue when she interacts with others, especially other survivors like herself.
