🖤 DARK worlds, soft(ish) romance 🖤 Book One of NEVER BROKEN out Jan. 15
I guess I'm officially in the author ecosystem now ... anyone else want to come join/follow/interact with me in the wider bookish social media world? (If you don't, I don't blame you, it's a jungle out there 🤣 ...)
But TikTok/Insta/FB is where I'll be doing the cover reveal for NEVER BROKEN in early November, so if you're interested in that, come on over! I'll also post memes, snippets, artwork, rants, and the like ...
I'm also thinking of starting up a street team, which may just kill me, so you'll have a front-row seat to that, lol.
Never broken
Farewell to M
Your lopsided grin
Your soft southern drawl
Sage advice
Your old basketball
A tall drink of water
I could take a sip
But your love, baby
Has a poison tip
Those eyes of brown
Your smouldering gaze
Rough worn hands
From work and age
I’d drive a thousand
If you’d let me in
But I’m sick of knocking
Knuckles bloodied, thin,
Your words once strong
Left me gorged and sated
Now hang in the air
Empty…
hollow…
Overrated …
But the sun still shines
I saw it rise today
And the rain just stopped…
Gonna go and play
Today feels like one giant, unending exhale.
Allow yourselves the time to celebrate today, okay? Guilt-free. Not everyone made it this far, and we remember and honor them.
But we made it
You made it.
Celebrate.

In the ...Ready for it video, Taylor is seen astride a horse (riding bareback):
Which looks like the cover of Jewel’s memoir:
Interesting subtitle: songs are only half the story
If you can flip the Jewel image in your brain so that you’re looking at her from behind, she would be in the position that Taylor and her horse are in. In other words, what’s going on in the music video is the other half of the story. We’re seeing Taylor’s life behind the scenes, behind the songs.
And before you say “Meh, it’s just two pictures of people on horses”: Jewel actually mentions Taylor in the promotion for this book:
“If I have a daughter, I hope she writes songs like Taylor Swift,” Jewel said. “I hope she writes about crushes and things that children should write about. It makes me happy to see that, that was Taylor Swift’s life, but that wasn’t my life.”
Sorry for the recent Sex Education spam but...
Heck I'm still recovering. How absolutely depressing is it that merely the mention of asexuality can reduce me to tears? We are THAT underrepresented that even the smallest acknowledgement in mainstream media is otherworldly.
So thank you to Sex Eduction (Netflix - Season 2 Episode 4). Small steps? Yes. But steps all the same. Just letting people know that it's okay and that they are not broken. It is so very important.
I'm going to go dry my eyes now.
“I could take the beatings and the physical punishment, but it was the attempt to destroy your dignity, to make you a nonentity that was the hardest thing to bear. For one thing, you have to learn self-discipline if you are going to succeed. You have to have confidence in yourself and believe that no matter what you’re faced with, you can deal with it — that you just can’t give up. And then there’s the aspect of staying in shape. And humor helped a lot, even in the gravest times."
Words from Captain Louis Zamperini, the Olympic runner who became an airman during World War II, who crashed into the Pacific, who was listed as dead after spending 47 days adrift in a life raft before being captured by the Japanese and enduring a brutal captivity for over 2 years.
Moral of the story: your daily shit ain't that bad, get passed it, figure it out and don't quit. #survival
