Elena Rodriguez (inhuman S.H.I.E.L.D asset, also formally known as badass) is caught in a blackout in Miami, while conveniently on the phone with Mack. Reyes and Johnson are caught in another in Los Angeles, while conveniently discussing how bad it would be if the power went out. A group claiming to be the Inhuman resistance, is fighting registration with the Sokovia Accords, take responsibility for the blackouts. Although we can all pretty much tell that it is NOT Inhumans, but thats fine. Reyes explains that his uncle, Eli Morrow, caused an explosion that apparently created the ghosts, and believes that atoning for Morrow's sins will pay his debt to the Devil, ridding Reyes of the Ghost Rider. At the Reyes' house, Gabe realizes that Johnson is Quake and asks her to leave Robbie alone. (THEY ARE KILLING THE BLOOMING SHIP) Back to May, Radcliffe delicately refers to helping May as “turning her off and on again”. Radcliffe uses AIDA's power cell to help Simmons 'restart' May’s heart and cure her. Coulson, Mack, and Fitz save Rodriguez from a group of Watchdogs, and find the EMP that caused the blackout—it was set off by the Watchdogs, who have backing from someone with access to the government list of registered Inhumans; this is Senator Rota Nadeer, whose brother is encased in an Inhuman terrigen cocoon. (Which wasn’t a big surprise, I think.) Hoping to assuage public fears of the Inhumans, Mace announces the return of S.H.I.E.L.D. And people promptly lost their minds. Tadaaa.
Episode critic: The fact that Elena was conveniently calling Mack right before the power out. Oh and I’m still extremely confused with Sen. Nadeer’s motivation... like if her brother was an Inhuman, you’d think she wouldn’t be so aggressive towards Inhumans. But fine.
