the one with the second chance. [mark]
summary: you and mark take part in a video interview following your ex-boyfriend interview.
make sure you read [ex boyfriend interview series masterlist] first!
[the one with the second chance series masterlist] [main masterlist]
[The video begins with the same bare set. Both the wall and the ground are grey, save for the two black spinning stools in the middle of the screen, only a metre or two apart.]
[From the left side of the screen, a boy enters. He sits down on the stool closest to him, looking expectantly off to the right side of the camera. A moment later, another person enters, happily sitting on the second stool. They both turn to the camera.]
[Hi, guys. Thank you for coming back to us. Our first video was a hit and we were hoping you could answer some questions following your first interview. They will be simple questions - where you are in your lives and relationships now - but, as usual, if any question makes you uncomfortable, just let us know. Ready to start?]
Mark, throwing up a peace sign: round two, letβs get it
[Could you introduce yourselves for us? Name, profession and relationship status.]
[Mark smiles as he looks at Y/n, waiting for her to answer first.]
Y/n: Iβm Y/n. And Iβve just finished my senior year at uni... so Iβm currently unemployed
Mark, quietly: jobless
Y/n, playfully glaring at him: so are you
Mark, to the camera: Iβve also just graduated
Mark, to Y/n, with a wide smile on his face: stop trying to make me look bad!
CUT SCENE
Mark: you didnβt answer the question
[Y/n bites her lip to stop the smile thatβs slowly spreading on her face. She pointedly avoids looking at Mark.]
Y/n: Iβm dating Mark. Again.
[Mark laughs, but heβs blushing slightly.]
CUT SCENE
Mark, to the camera, surprisingly confident: Whatβs up, I'm Mark. Iβve just graduated, too. Y/nβs... Y/nβs my girlfriend.
CUT SCENE
[So first things first... have you watched your interview yet?]
Mark, blushing: I have
Y/n, turning to him: You did?!
Y/n, looking back at the camera: I havenβt
[Why?]
Y/n, embarrassed: I thought it would be embarrassing
CUT SCENE
Y/n, to Mark: You know my grandparents have seen it?
[Mark stares at the camera like hes on The Office.]
CUT SCENE
[How did you end up together again?]
Y/n: After our last interview, we ended up going out
Mark, quietly: As friends
Y/n, correcting herself: Going out again as friends
Y/n, now shy: And I donβt knowβ¦ It was good
[Mark shyly spins around in his chair so his back is to the camera.]
CUT SCENE
[It was easy to fall back into the relationship?]
[The camera zooms in on Mark]
Mark: I donβt- I donβt think I ever got over Y/n
[Itβs obvious Y/n is happily embarrassed by this answer, but she turns to kick his chair lightly]
Y/n, sarcastically swooning: AWWWW
Mark, laughing: Shut up! Itβs true!
CUT SCENE
[The green screen is visibly green, and someone from the set is trying to untangle the cables connected to the microphone on Mark's shirt.]
Y/n, quietly, to Mark: I donβt think I got over you, either.
[Mark blushes]
CUT SCENE
[We have some comments and questions from some of the fans of the last video that we'll be asking, if that's okay with you guys? Again, if they're too invasive we can skip them.]
[Y/n and Mark nod.]
[Tray2Yung writes: 'It was so obvious throughout the whole interview that Mark was still into Y/n... the way he looked at her made me want to SCREAM.]
[Y/n laughs and looks at Mark, who is visibly blushing.]
Mark, scratching the back of his neck: Yeah, I mean, obviously!
[Y/n laughs again.]
Y/n: It was probably obvious that I was still into him, too.
CUT SCENE
[bigmunki writes 'They looked so awkward at the start omg was the last time they saw each other the break up??']
[Mark cringes while Y/n looks at her hands.]
Y/n: I followed him on social media even after we broke up
Mark, looking at the floor: Same
Y/n, sneaking a glance at Mark: But the last time we saw each other would've been when we broke up, right?
[Mark hesitates.]
Mark: The last time you saw me, yeah.
[Y/n looks confused and turns to face him.]
Y/n, biting the inside of her cheek: What does that mean?
Mark, hesitantly looking at the camera before turning back to her: Um, I actually saw you at the Engineering Cocktail Night like three months after.
[Y/n's eyes widen. She sits up straight in her chair.]
Y/n: You didn't even study engineering?!
Mark, with a lopsided smile: Well, neither did you...
[Y/n turns in her chair to whack him on the arm. She looks shocked but it's evident she's still smiling.]
Y/n: Why didn't you come say hi?
[Mark shrugs, but he's sheepishly smiling.]
Mark: I don't want to say...
CUT SCENE
Y/n, kicking Mark's chair: Tell me later?
Mark, giving her a quick nod: Obviously
[Y/n turns back to face the camera, grinning happily.]
CUT SCENE
[We'll do one more... Oh, this is a good one! HimboHchan writes 'What's your biggest regret from the break up?']
[Mark whistles lowly. Y/n scrunches her eyebrows together in thought. When Mark notices, he gently pokes the skin between her brows, making her smile shyly.]
Mark: Am I allowed to say the break up itself?
Y/n: No! Something different. The people want gossip, babe.
Mark, blushing at the use of the word 'babe': Probably going to that cocktail night, to be honest.
Y/n, looking at him, pouting: What? Why?
Mark, shrugging: I don't know...
Mark: I only went because I knew you were going to be there and then by the time I saw you, I was [BLEEP]-
CUT SCENE
Mark: Oh, right, sorry! I had been drinking.
[Y/n hides a smile behind her hand. Mark's hand reaches out to grab it.]
Mark, to Y/n: You just looked so happy, and I felt miserable. So, yeah, that was probably my biggest regret from after the break up.
CUT SCENE
Y/n, matter-of-factly: Okay, mine is much less romantic-
[As she continues speaking, Mark looks at the camera, confused, and mouths the word 'Romantic?']
Y/n: -and my friends were telling me that online dating was the only way to feel better. I ended up organising a date with some random guy who happened to go to the same uni as us and...
[She laughs. Mark joins in, suddenly understanding where the story is going.]
Y/n, giggling: He turns to me, and he says - pardon my French - I can't wait to [BLEEP] your [BLEEP] [BLEEP].
[Mark almost falls off his chair from laughing so hard.]
Mark, muffled: They can't show that!
Y/n, watching him keel over and fall from his chair: THAT'S WHAT HE SAID, THOUGH!
[Mark erupts into more giggles.]
CUT SCENE
Y/n: Yeah... safe to say I regret that experience...
[Mark says something under his breath that is censored, but Y/n only giggles in response, whacking him on the shoulder once again.]
CUT SCENE
[I think that about wraps it up for now! Thank you so much for coming back.]
Y/n: No, thank you!
Mark: Yeah, it's been a really great experience.
[He points to the microphone on his shirt.]
Mark: These are new.
Y/n, gasps dramatically: No way!
[Mark rolls his eyes and unclips the microphone to hand to a nearby staff member.]
[When both of them have had their microphones removed, Mark turns to Y/n.]
Mark: You've really never watched the video?
Y/n, shyly: No... I would feel so embarrassed.
Mark, grinning at her and offering her his hand: You were great! We will watch it tonight ~
Y/n, taking his hand and pretending to whine like a child: Nooooo~
