Im Jahr 1240 entdecken Jäger des Klosters Pfäfers die 36,5 °C warme #Taminaquelle. In deren #Quellwasser erkennen die Mönche des nahe gelegenen Benediktiner-Klosters eine heilende Wirkung – so die Überlieferung. Damit begann die lange Geschichte von Bad Pfäfers und später von Bad Ragaz. Anfangs wurden die ersten #Kurgäste noch an Seilen in die #Schlucht hinuntergelassen. Am 31. Mai 1840 wurde die vier Kilometer lange Wasserleitung vom Alten Bad Pfäfers bis zum «Hof Ragaz» eröffnet. Seither fliesst das körperwarme Quellwasser von exakt 36.5°C direkt nach Bad Ragaz, wo im Jahr 1872 mit der Tamina Therme das erste Thermalwasserhallenbad Europas entstand. Ein Besuch der Taminaschlucht ist sicher sehr empfehlenswert.
