Please help me go into remission from Type II diabetes
Hello everyone, I am so sorry to remake this post, but I am very scared. I am experiencing embarassing and vulnerable symptoms- my type II diabetes is becoming progressive, and I am desperate to go into remission. It has affected my liver and my heart, and neuropathy has made me partially incontinent. On April I was hospitalized twice. I have no thyroid, and without medication, it will put me into a myxedema coma and will kill me within days. Hypothyroidism and type II diabetes is making it very difficult for me to find work, as I am from the global south (the Philippines), with government aid only covering 20,000 pesos (around 326 usd) a year. I am the only person in my family who can work; my mother is paralyzed from a brain injury, and my sister is autistic with a very low frustration threshold. I need help covering for my new medication, as I now take metformin twice a day, and phosphates to help with my liver and kidneys, and b complex to help bolster my immune system. Im sorry I keep remaking this post, I am alone and desperate. Community is all I have. Thank you so much for your endless grace and compassion.

Hey everyone, I am sorry for incessantly reblogging this. For pride I am asking for mutual aid. I got laid off at work. As contract says, I will not be getting paid outside of a kiIl fee, which I have no word on when I will receive. I am really struggling with the rising cost of everything, as I am the only caretaker of a family of four and our four cats. My mother is also severely disabled with liver failure. Im at my wits end just trying to keep afloat. Thank you so much

Despite my best efforts to mitigate mt Terrible English Dental DNA, today two of my teeth broke.
I don't even have a fun story about this, it's literally terrible genetics and stress-grinding my teeth in my sleep.
I just got back from emergency surgery to get the pieces pulled and the hole in my jaw closed so I don't get an infection, but a second reconstruction surgery to give me a bone graft and dental implants will be needed so I can actually chew and use my mouth for it's intended purposes.
IĀ doĀ notĀ currentlyĀ haveĀ dentalĀ insurance.
I haven't talked about it here much, but my husband was unemployed after getting laid off for almost all of last year. He has a job again, but it pays like 2/3rds of his previous one and the benefits are crap. Like no dental insurance until he's worked there at least a year.
So I'm on the hook for the full cost of Today's emergency surgery, Medication, and the necessary follow-up reconstruction, which my dentist estimates will cost between $5000-$7000. Our dentist has given us every discount she can and we have a payment plan, but losing half our household income has left us with no savings and credit cards at their limits.
Even though I only need to come up with $500 this month to go ahead with the reconstructive surgery, I do not have any money to spare. It will also be VASTLY cheaper overall to pay for everything up front rather than pay interest over the months with the payment plan, but literally anything will help me right now.

The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointeeānot a career expert or peer reviewerāto ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people existāthrough its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processesācould be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to āsupport the notion that sex is mutableā and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitationāhospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that itās worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the presidentās agenda.
What this means, and if anything Iām under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; āif an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.Ė®"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.
Some added 101-level context from someone (me) whoās worked in federal grantmaking for 20 years and is literally certified on this document - this is a document that governs all federal grantmaking. Itās been around for over a decade and is a mega-document that combine multiple previous smaller documents that have been around for ages. It is updated every few years and generally the updates are minor - a notable change in the previous update was raising the small procurement threshold from $10,000 to $15,000 for example. Deeply dry boring minutiae that no one outside of federal grantmakers need concern themselves with. It was also federal GUIDELINES, which means there was flexibility.
This yearās is different. They are now federal REQUIREMENTS, which means thereās no flexibility. As was said previously, the 400 pages are not singularly devoted to being absolute shitheads to trans people. Theres a lot of stuff in there, some of which is the standard dry boring grants stuff, some of which is the horrible ideological warfare outlined above.
This document is issued by the OMB, the Office of Management and Budget, which is currently lead by fucking Russell Vought, the principal architect of Project 2025. This is how theyāre going to implement all the horrible shit in there that wasnāt covered by Executive Order. Russell Vought is actively coming for my job, my marriage, and my kid, and most of my friends lost their jobs last year because of him. He is the fucking arch villain behind the heinous shit the current regime is doing.
So yes, please comment. You donāt have to read all 400 pages before doing so, itās dry and dense as fuck, but I thought this information might be helpful. Also, while there is a public comment period, this isnāt voted on by Congress. The OMB just fucking issues it. Pressuring your elected officials into publicly saying āhey what the fuck are you doing hereā is good, though.
Please note the comment period is open through JULY 13th, not JUNE 13th. I saw a lot of relogs yesterday saying "last day!" and I just want to say it is very much not too late.
As of today, 7/8/26, we have five days for public commentary on this to go through. I am begging y'all: if you care about independent science in the country that produces the most global science funding in the world, please leave a comment.
The Office of Professional Responsibility has opened more than 100 cases over what ICE officials call āincidents of doxing and threatsā agai
Voting was already underway when the ICE agents arrived at a polling site in Syracuse, New York, during the state's primaries in June. The agents were there to see Paigelynne Gonyea, a poll worker who says they were concerned about an Instagram post she had supposedly made in January ādoxingā an ICE agent. The only post she could find was one she had made crediting the Minnesota Star Tribune for identifying Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Good during the federal incursion in Minneapolis this winter, and calling for his indictment.
The agents at the poll site asked Gonyea to sign a warning notice that said it was unlawful to āthreaten to assault, kidnap and/or murderā federal officials or their immediate family members in an effort to impede that federal officialās work. The form also requested that she remove her post āand/or discontinueā her behavior.
āMy signature would have been an admission of guilt,ā Gonyea says. āI refused to sign it.ā
ICE did not respond to a request for comment for this story.
The incident, which was first reported by local news outlet Syracuse.com, was unsettling in many ways, but one part stuck out to Gonyea: the warning notice said it was sent by ICEās Office of Professional Responsibility.
āThat office is supposed to be for internal investigations,ā says Gonyea, āand now they're using their own internal departments on American civilians.ā
OPR is supposed to act as an internal watchdog. Itās responsible for inspecting detention facilities, investigating allegations of employee and contractor misconduct, and processing security checks for new applicants. On its site, it says it also protects against āexternal threatsā by managing badge access to buildings and maintaining the agencyās network security. But lately, court documents indicate, it appears to be pursuing more civilians like Gonyea for what they say online.
In a court declaration filed in April, an ICE official said that between January 2025 and March 2026, OPR investigated 131 cases involving āincidents of doxing and threats directed towards ICE employees nationwide.ā
Itās unclear how many of those cases resulted in criminal charges. WIRED was able to identify only one instance when OPR was credited for its investigative work in a case where the Justice Department accused a California man of harassing an ICE attorney and her mother. The DOJ alleged that the man, who pleaded guilty, used to live in the same building as the mother and that he started his harassment campaign in January 2024, well before President Trump took office. ICE did not respond to questions about whether other cases have been brought based on OPRās work or how many additional cases OPR has opened since March.Got a Tip?Are you a current or former government employee who wants to talk about whatās happening? Weād like to hear from you. Using a nonwork phone or computer, contact the reporter securely on Signal at mvarner.01.
āIt takes a lot to actually convict someone for their speech, and it's only possible in very limited circumstances,ā says Laura Moraff, a staff attorney at the ACLU's Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project. āPeople do have a First Amendment right to criticize the government and to do that online and to do that anonymously.ā
OPR was behind at least one of the flurry of administrative subpoenas sent to tech companies in recent months in an effort to unmask online critics. In court filings, lawyers for the poster argued that the subpoena, which asked for the posterās name, address, telephone number, and other details, violated the posterās right to free speech. The government withdrew the subpoena rather than trying to litigate its merits.
At least one other since-withdrawn administrative subpoena that WIRED identified has a tracking number that starts with āOPR-DC,ā which a source familiar with the agency says most likely means that it is related to OPR efforts. ICE did not respond to questions about how many administrative subpoenas OPR has sent to tech companies.
Various Trump administration officials have claimed that threats against ICE officers have increased since the start of the administration. (A 2025 Los Angeles Times analysis cast doubt on a widely cited claim that attacks on ICE agents have increased by 1,000 percent.) Agency officials have also tried to expand the definition of doxing, which generally means publishing specific information such as an individualās home address, to include taking photographs and videos of ICE employees while they are performing their official duties, which free-speech experts say is lawful activity.
Last year, the Department of Homeland Security published a privacy notice update for its ICE Intelligence Records Systems to say that it was collecting information about āindividuals who have made credible threats against ICE personnel or facilitiesā and that it would collect social media posts and account information along with location-related data.
In the April declaration, the ICE official also said that then-acting director of ICE, Todd Lyons, had signed a memo on March 25 to āinvest in the agencyās capabilitiesā to protect ICE employees from āemerging threats, including doxing and online harassment.ā ICE declined to answer questions about what types of investments it has made since then.
While the Trump administration is investing in its ability to investigate online commentators, other data suggests that OPR may be falling behind on some of its other duties. An analysis by the Project on Government Oversight found that in 2025, the agency published only 102 detention facility inspection reports on its website, compared to 160 reports in 2024 and 192 the year prior.
In written testimony for an April hearing with the House Appropriations Committee, which helps set the budget for DHS, Lyons touted OPRās work inspecting detention facilities, vetting job applicants, and overseeing the agencyās 287(g) program, but didnāt mention the officeās work investigating online posters. ICE did not respond to questions about why Lyons didnāt discuss that work.
āI can't imagine that he would willingly go before Congress and say, āYeah, weāre speech police, thatās what youāre funding.ā Thatās not popular,ā says Adam Steinbaugh, a senior attorney at FIRE, a nonprofit civil liberties group.
āLegislative oversight of the executive branch is important,ā Steinbaugh says, pointing out that oversight by the public can be made difficult because of issues like delays in processing requests for public records. āIt's critical that the legislative folks also be looking under the hood.ā
Gonyea, the poll worker, plans to fight the administration in court. āI know that this issue is going to be bigger than me,ā says Gonyea. āThis is literally about protecting all Americansā right to free speech.ā
Ok I put this on FB but it can't hurt to put here too. We need help with Fantine!
Dog location: Northeast Georgia, just outside metro Atlanta and near the NC/TN/SC borders. TL;DR: Really sweet stray dog has ringworm; current foster is immune compromised; need someone to help by housing her for the duration of her treatment. Only need a short-term foster (approximately a month is the estimate for ringworm treatment? up to six weeks, I guess) and we can help find a permanent placement for her when her treatment is complete.
Details: Fantine is a stray dog we have been fostering for about the last month, she has a wonderful temperament (very sweet and trusting with people, quite resilient, friendly to all the dogs she has met) and is about a year and a half old. She has had all her vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm treatment and was spayed almost three weeks ago. and is healing up from it really well.
She's also ringworm positive, and I have some serious immune-related health conditions. The vet who diagnosed her was worried about her staying in the house with me even though she has been in quarantined in the laundry room and we are being very cautious about biosecurity.
Our local shelter is full and doesn't have the resources to help us right now. We really, *really* need help finding a place for her to finish her treatment. She has been started on oral and topical meds and is receiving anti-fungal baths. She's a really, really good and easy dog (or we wouldn't have fostered her at all) but it's not longer feasible to keep her here, and I don't know what to do. Feel free to reach out and ask me any additional questions if you have them. Willing to drive her somewhere if it will get her to a good foster. Thanks for reading.
please she is a really good dog and we cannot keep caring for her. another week of this and my partner is going to plunge into the caregiver burnout pit. please we really need help this is actively hurting us like this is an emergency and having a huge negative impact on our wellbeing
Hey y'all! Ringworm is what causes athletes foot. It's an extremely common fungal infection that is manageable for most people with working immune system systems!
Pip unfortunately does not have a working immune system, and as someone who dealt with a dog with ringworm and an immunodeficiency myself, I know what a nightmare that can be. Pip has always gone above and beyond for its dogs, but it cannot be expected to sacrifice its health in this case, although it already has done so much!
If any of my followers are able to foster Fantine, please reach out to Pip!
Pip is a reliable and responsible dog owner whom I know personally (perhaps the most knowledgeable-about-dogs person I know tbh); Not only would I be 100% confident fostering a dog from Pip, but Pip is one of the only people in the world I would trust with my own dog, Little Bird.
I'm willing to help drive Fantine to her new home, as well. I've done a long distance dog transport for a tumblr user in the past, and I'd happily do it again! I'm in Alabama, and willing to drive 3-4 hours from the Birmingham area to deliver the dog. This includes Huntsville, Memphis, Meridian, Tuscaloosa, Atlanta, Montgomery, Chattanooga, and Nashville.
So if anyone wants her but needs help to get her, I will work to facilitate that!

B-17 bomber is riddled with German anti-aircraft fire but miraculously survives. Later they discover the explosive shells were all inert; sabotaged by Nazi slaves working in armament factories.
Inside one empty shell is a written note: it's all we can do for you now.
The most important part of all this is that these small acts of bravery and noncompliance cannot be known as long as the enemy still stands, and might never be known. Just because it doesnāt seem like anyone is doing anything doesnāt mean itās true. The best malicious compliance or subtle sabotage is the one thatās never detected, but makes ravages nonetheless.

Apparently juries in Texas are now issuing life sentences for possessing information ?? There was no terrorism involved, no assassination plot; the couple mentioned in the article did not do or plan to do any violence. They literally just got sentenced to life in prison for being associated with anti-fascism (aka... a pro-democracy movement).
So just to be clear:
Attack the US government and attempt a coup = Pardoned and free to go!
Be present at a protest or in possession of leftist information = Life sentence.
Daniel Sanchez Estradaās 30-year sentence for moving a box of pamphlets is likely just the start for criminalizing possession of information
Advocates sound alarm after zines were used as evidence to convict protesters of terrorism charges tied to 2025 protest at Texas ICE facilit
Last year on the Fourth of July, a small group from Dallas-Fort Worth held a night-time noise demonstration, setting off fireworks outside the Prairieland Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility south of the cities, in solidarity with the detainees. A few protesters broke away and spray-painted graffiti on employeesā cars and a security post, slashed the tires on a government van, and broke a security camera. The facilityās guards ordered the protesters to disperse, and most of them did. When a police officer arrived at the scene, drawing his gun, an armed protester shot her rifle, hitting the officer in the shoulder. The officer survived.
After a three-week trial, a jury found eight of nine protesters guilty of āproviding material support to terroristsā, among other crimes.
For the Sotos, this āmaterial supportā included owning a āprinting pressā used to print anarchist zines and being part of a leftist book club, the federal government argued. The couple had already left the scene by the time guns were drawn. All eight of the defendants sentenced so far have received unusually harsh sentences ā 30 to 100 years ā essentially life in prison.
Their attorneys announced their intention to appeal, but many supporters are doubtful that anything short of a presidential pardon from a future administration would free them.
The Prairieland case was the first tried and convicted under the Trump Department of Justiceās ācounter-terrorismā initiatives targeting āantifaā ā short for antifascist ā a decentralized movement the administration has officially categorized as a ādomestic terrorist organizationā. The federal government argued the Prairieland defendants, what they called a āNorth Texas Antifa cellā, had planned the demonstration as an assassination attempt against a law enforcement officer. The government alleged this conspiracy even though the defendants were loosely connected, and some who attended the protest did not even know each other.
So being anti-fascist is llegal and worthy of going to prison for life in the United States.
Among the evidence used against them was a banner that said "ACAB," the fact that they were members of the Emma Goldman book club which focuses on "leftist and anarchist literature," an anti-swastika sticker, and an "FTP" sticker found in their home.
( hi everyone! it's that time of year again... expect me back sometime in august! in the meantime, consider donating to direct relief for earthquake recovery in venezuala! )
The blade that hangs above my head
is a flood-rusted bowie knife
that I bought after one sleepless night too many.
Paranoia hit. The thread snapped.
The swords I owned were too fragile for fighting,
and too long for running, in case of apocalypse.
Never mind I can't run very far.
By the time the knife arrived, I was sane again.
The end times were mostly shaken
from my mind, despite the decades of haunting
the end of the world has held over my house.
In the backyard of that same home,
returned to reluctantly after the flood
that rusted the blade, my reflection is blurred
and red-spotted and smeared with mud,
but it is clearer than ever before.

It's Anti-Prime Days on my favorite online bookseller, Bookshop.org :) In case you aren't familiar, BookshopDO gives you the ability to choose an independent bookstore to share the profits with whenever you buy through their website--and they do ebooks! That you can have sent directly to your preferred e-reader app when you link it on their website!
And just recently, they've started doing Affiliate Links, which is very nice for those of us avoiding Amazon. I love their mission to the point that even though I have the ability for you to order directly from me, my default link to my books are the affiliate links for BDO. I also have two other lists on my affiliate account, which are "Formative Reads"--ie, books I've never escaped their influence in one way or another--and "Books I Want To Read" (which is shorter than you'd think!).
Jules Kelley is an author of cross-genre fiction with a heavy focus on relationships and elements of the fantastic.
But even if you don't order something through my affiliate links, if you're looking at buying books, please skip over Amazon if you can and see if you can support a local indie shop on BDO.
