I'm curious, what specifically do you study? Because it seems fascinating
Thanks! My main department was/will be (fingers crossed!) English/Lit, but I tend to work from a framework of critical queer and feminist theory, which I like to think makes it that much more fun. (Though I’m nerdy enough to think Renaissance drama and gothic novels are plenty fun on their own too…)
I was curious how you would feel about the historical wardrobe I loved the brightness and color scheme
I mean, it’s definitely more fantastical than accurate, but they didn’t go the currently-popular “don’t even try and call it an artistic choice” route (*cough*Reign*cough*) and I respect that. Much like Beauty and the Beast was fantasy with a clear Rococo influence- except that godawful yellow dress -this is fantasy with a clear Victorian influence. A solid attempt was clearly made; they didn’t just chuck everybody in modern prom dresses and call it a day.
Everyone’s hair is an amount of up that can be justified by saying it was influenced by certain 1870s styles and I didn’t see anyone wearing a corset over bare skin. And for this particular movie, I’ll take that and be happy with it. Especially because “dark Victorian-inspired masquerade ball with supernatural nuances” is pretty much my everything.
natp replied to your post “i’ve seen too many people say lena killed jack for kara/sg she didn’t...”
Jack deserves the credit, yes it was difficult to press enter, but he wanted her to do that both he and supergirl wouldn't be controlled. Jack died a hero
he really did though and i feel like we, as a fandom, really don’t give him any credit for that. we’re romanticizing his sacrifice and make it about supercorp which isn’t quite so right
I headcanons that you own a lot of book, enough to fit a bookshelf like a whole built in.
Canon.
