One famous account by a Dominican Priest describes how the Spanish Dogs who were underfed and ravenous were given a baby, torn from the arms of their mother, to eat as she watched in horror. Their are a plethora of paintings and drawings from the colonial era of this practice showing how War Dogs were sicced upon Indigenous people, and I have been aware of this historical method of terrorism for some time, which is why when I learned of the news that the protestors against the Dakota Access Pipeline, by private security I was truly left in awe and disgust at how remarkably little has changed in the tactics user by Colonial-Settlers, and how little regard they have for Indigenous American people. "Why do you natives keep bringing up the past, let's move on", the myth of post-colonialism becomes obvious when the tactics of the oppressor of the 1500s are being used in the year 2016. When treaties were violated then as they are being violated now. The War Dogs are symbolic, of the unchanged mentality and use of force that the colonial settlers and their descendants will use to get their way.
