Our men were the hunters and protectors, and our women were the nurturers and decision makers.  The European did not view their women as leaders because in their country women were beneath men and subservient. The European came here to our land and could not believe what they saw in the strong hearts and minds of our women. This is our Grandmother, and her Grandmother, and so on.
