I've talked a lot about Daija lately so here's some Maruo facts to even things out:
While Orochimaru gets their skin and hair color from Daija, they get their eye color and slim physique from Maruo.
Like his child, Maruo is somewhat androgynous in appearance, and his pretty-boy looks have caused more than one gay crisis (which he is amusingly oblivious to)
He isn't much of a fighter, but is reasonably skilled with genjutsu and excellent at evasion tactics.
He uses bo-shuriken which he stores in his sleeves. Mainly uses them as a distraction by throwing them in one direction to make a noise that alerts enemies so that he can run the other way.
His clan has a technique that they call "snake in the grass" that lets them morph into their surroundings and effectively hide in plain sight. Orochimaru being able to wear paper thin disguises without anyone being suspicious is derived from this technique.
Y'know that thing Orochimaru does where they shed their damaged body by crawling out of their own mouth? That's from Maruo as well, as it was a clan kekkei genkai. Orochimaru is unique because they found a way to use it in battle and can spam it over and over, whereas Maruo and his brethren could only use it once before suffering from chakra exhaustion.
I had a different post about this, but Manda's summoning contract was originally with Maruo. They met when Maruo was little and Manda was just a hatchling and were very close friends.
He genuinely enjoys tea ceremonies and making tea in general. His other hobbies include photography, as cameras are still somewhat new when he's a young adult and he finds them fascinating. His favorite subjects to photograph are Daija and Orochimaru, and he's filled multiple albums with pictures of them - think Maes Hughes levels of photos!
