#narrowback

Drove half an hour to Narrowback in order to get in a little trail action in the morning. It was a pleasant and cool-weathered drive over to the trail.

I believe I passed my good friend Kelly mountain biking towards Narrowback as well the the legend himself - Dennis Herr. Dennis is the race director for the TWOT 100s and Martha Moats Baker 50k. He's a real cool guy and such a badass.

At first, the trail was overgrown with small pine trees that didn't feel too good to run into. Then, the trail was pretty exposed for 3 miles in which the sun really beat down on me. Then it went uphill in which I felt so/so. I fell about 7 miles in which kind of sucked and hurt my hip a bit. But it wasn't too bad after a minute or 2 of running.

I added half a mile at the end on a fire road to make it an even 10.

Anyway, I met up at my friend's house at 3pm. Then I drove our friend Annie over while Emma drove herself since she was planning on doing 18 and Annie and I were only planning on doing 10.

Emma had some nausea/poop problems, but it wasn't too bad. We stuck together for the first 5, and then I went a little faster when it changed to going uphill. I like running up Narrowback because it's long, yet runnable. There aren't any parts that you really have to walk, so it's good training. I continued on my way till the end, added on half a mile to make it an even 10, and then they finished as well.

Headed over to Narrowback, a nice trail loop, with a couple friends. They're a bit slower than me, but that was no problem. I like chillin' sometimes. However, I suddenly wanted to take the uphill hard as soon as we turned to go up the mountain. I really want to train my quads, so that was mainly why I did it. Then I waited for them and we began the descent.

It was CRAZY how quickly time flew. One minute we started, next minute we already had 4 miles down. Then 7. Then 10. We finished just under 10, but I drove separately so I could add on a few.

My 50k is in 2 weeks, so I was thinking 20 may be too much. I concluded that 15 would be perfect, and went for it. I went fairly quickly, and my legs were DEAD afterwards. They were so tired. I was also slightly dehydrated, but whatevs.
