We’re excited to announce that three MTA Arts & Design projects were recognized by this year's CODAawards! Merit Winners in the Transportation category include: "Outlook" by Diane Carr, at the Broadway (N) station, fabricated by Glasmaleri Peters; "The Arches of Old Penn Station" and "The Arc of Gadiva" by Diana Al-Hadid, at 34 St-Penn Station (1,2,3), fabricated by Mayer of Munich; and "Roaming Underfoot" by Nancy Blum, at 28 St (6) station, fabricated by Miotto Mosaics". CODAworx celebrates the commissioned projects that most successfully integrate art into interior, architectural, or public spaces. Congratulations to the award winning #MTAArts artists and fabricators, as well as the Transportation Winner + People's Choice Winner: "Barbara Walker Crossing," in Portland, Oregon, by Ed Carpenter.
Artist Nancy Blum, who designed flower mosaics for the 28th Street Station, has recently converted five collections of her artwork into coloring pages.
Looking for a way to brighten your #StayAtHome? Artist @nancy_blum, whose artwork is always in bloom at 28 St (6) station, has created 5 sets of free, downloadable floral line drawings, available for your coloring pleasure at www.nancyblum.com.
Blooms are busting out all over in Nancy Blum’s “Roaming Underfoot” (2019) at the newly re-opened historic 28th Street (6) station. The seven flowering plants depicted in the glass mosaic artwork (fabricated by Miotto Mosaics) are from nearby Madison Square Park Conservancy’s perennial collection, including Red Buds, Magnolias, Hellebores, Witch Hazel, Daffodils, Hydrangea and Camellia. Each are suited to the changing climate conditions of the city. Similar to a glorious garden, the larger than life underground flowers create a delightful space in every season.
