I'm sorry but I'm dying at this being framed like it's horrible:
More trains are good! Less emissions, less traffic, more mobility for everyone (disabled folks benefit highly from accessible public transport, for one group of many)...
Anyway, here's the actual feasibility study from Amtrak, the MTA, and New Jersey Transit on increasing capacity at New York Penn Station. I can think of something else that should be done but it's over 60 years too late to do it,* so this is the next best thing.
*I will never be over what happened to the original Penn Station. It's a huge chip on my shoulder and the fastest way to get me violently angry.
