Vagueing over here about stuff out there, far as hell from tumblr — a different form of credentialism that sets my teeth on edge: naming dropping lineages of mentorship with a certain tone of voice.
The person who make that smug face and says, “I studied under/mentored under [BIG NAME] who was mentored by [BIGGER NAME] who learned under [LITERALLY SO FAMOUS OF A NAME THAT PPL OUTSIDE THE FIELD CERTAINLY KNOW THIS NAME]”
Half the time they never mention that it was all for 3 hot minutes they were doing some week professional workshop under BIG NAME 1 and they were just yet another person out of a few dozen with a clip-on name tag.
As for the other half of the time, a notable percentage fail to mention that all of the time that the mentor dedicated to them over the course of X months or a few years hardly fills up a coffee cup.
Up there with the 32 year old wearing a Harvard sweatshirt whenever they go to a casual meet-up.
Sociologists love to call different things and theories with the same words and this would not be an issue if i could remember names (because its all just namedropping because thats the only way to know whose idea of this thing we are talking about) but i, in fact, am really bad with names so it it an issue. Help.

timmy&tommy #4
despite this happening...
so tommy got a sweet girlfriend of his own.
she is smart and lovely and pretty. her name is lou. lou like louise, not lourdes or anything!
her mom is a popular vocal coach...
... for kids on "kidz got skillz too, so move your oldie asses".
Anyways...
They had fun together.
timmy&tommy #2
meet tommy.
who happens to be timmy's besti.
ever since they ran into each other at comic con.
they hit it right off. and timmy had an in with the cool kids.
because despite tommy being a nerd himself...
... he is also BFF's with Axel ...
... who is also king of the jocks.
they got even closer during Axel's depressed phase after he had to stop sports because he had a booboo. (obviously on his head, because why else would he go blond?!)
so tommy dragged him out to watch games again.
timmy&tommy #1
meet tim.
he's a total nerd. loving to dress up as a superhero.
good thing his girlfriend sandy loves it too.
she might even be the bigger nerd.
isn't she great!
so one day sandy told him a story to which he was like: what!?
nah...
...or, maybe...?
it started with them meeting friends at a basketball game. and it went like this:
meet tommy.
