Copypasta from my Twitter thread:
I find it increasingly irksome that, after CRISIS brought everyone together on the same world, the Arrowverse shows went from dropping off-hand references and frequent cameos to barely acknowledging each others' existence at all.
Most egregious: I am not sure if #SupermanAndLois is even set in the same world as #SupergirlCW, despite having the same actors in the title roles.
Clark NEVER mentions his cousin.
I understand that bringing in another hero to save the day undercuts the protagonist, and, of course, COVID has an impact on cameos, but we aren't even getting the "I called Cisco at S.T.A.R. Labs for his opinion" name-drops like we used to.
Cross-Show references this season:
Kate "Batwoman" Kane flying to National City to talk to Kara "Supergirl" Danvers about Kryptonite right before [SPOILER].
Jefferson "Black Lightning" Pierce mentioning that he fought alongside Superman -- in a tone that makes it sound like Supes is a fictional character instead of That Guy In Metropolis.
Again, the irritating part is that this was all fairly common *before* the Crisis supposedly brought them all together.
Really, it undercuts the protagonists even more, because it makes it seem like they're not smart enough to ask for help from someone who knows more about a subject or whose powers would be ideally suited to dealing with the Problem of the Week. Acknowledging the other shows would allow them to handwave excuses to explain WHY the outsider can't save the day (or acknowledge the events of the other shows).
