Penny was currently pacing back and forth in the dorm of team RWBY. She would check her scroll every few seconds hoping that time would magically speed up. She was anxiously waiting for Ruby's class to conclude so that they could go on their date.

Of course Penny would never call it a date out loud, she was afraid that would label them as a couple and if Ruby wasn't interested in starting a relationship with her,  then she could run the risk of chasing off the best thing that has ever happened to her. "Uhhh Penny, how long have you been standing in our dorm?" a voice shook her out of her paranoid daydream. Ruby was standing behind her, wondereing why her friend was standing and staring at a wall in her dorm. "AHHHHH oh, hello Ruby." Penny screamed and then said calmly. Ruby just stared at her friend with concern. "I wasn't waiting long at all, anyway what exciting activity have you planned for us?" Penny asked after lying about her time spent waithing in the dorm.

Ruby just gave Penny a look, "Well the original plan was to change and call you, but since your here now we can just head out now." Ruby said as she directed her friend toward the door. Ruby took the two of them to a bearby ice cream parlor to enjoy some frosty treats together, and since Ruby was still in her uniform the vendor gave them a discount on the ice cream. The two girls then sat down on a nearby bench so they could enjoy their ice cream together. Penny was still a little cautious around the huntress in traning. She didn't know what to say or how to act without out potentially scaring off her friend, so the two ate their ice cream in complete silence. "So this is nice right?" Ruby said in an attempt to break the silence.

Penny looked at the girl with a conjused look. "I mean the two of us spending time together. I didn't know if you wanted something more fancy, but Yang assured me that this was a good first date idea." Penny dropped her ice cream cone after hearing her friend utter the, "D", word. "SO THIS IS A DATE!!!!" Penny shouted. Ruby jumped from the sudden outburst. "Wha...I mean if you aren't comfterable with my calling it a date, then..." Penny quickly jumped into the smaller girls backpedaling. "No, no, no, no, no. I do want this to be a date. I would like that a lot." Penny said making sure to clear up any misenturpitations. Ruby smiled back at the robot girl, "So I guess we're girlfriends now?" She asked. Penny just grabbed the scythe-wielder's hand and nodded in response. The couple sat there in silence holding hands as Ruby finished her ice cream.
