VSMP RARER PAIRS TOURNEY - BRACKET ONE ROUND FOUR
BLOODMOON (Owen/Pearl) VS MYTHWRITER (Sausage/Shelby)
BLOODMOON
MYTHWRITER
Propaganda under cut!
BLOODMOON:
• Picture a world where Pearl was less of an npc early on and took a similar-ish path to Legs. However instead of trying to 'fix' Owen she just tries to help him learn to be a better person and accepts him for what he is. She builds up a relationship with him on the premise that he is not the monster he claims himself to be. HOWEVER to add some angst, Owen ends up hiding the massacre part of his past from her (because she kills things that kill people, and she's been pretty adamant about that). What Owen does emphasize is that, presently, he hasn't turned/killed anyone in Oakhurst, and this is what Pearl tries to use to her advantage to help prove to him that he's not really a monster. Anyway, Imma stop there for now and leave with this final thought: if Pearl and Owen had interacted more in-canon, there could have been SO MUCH potential.
• Ok, so, I think one of their biggest hurdles in the relationship would be whether Pearl could convince Owen to be human again, or Owen convinces Pearl to be a vampire. (This ofc going off canon where Cleo does not convince her/it's not their last resort) As my friend pointed out, this is essentially immovable object vs unstoppable force. Owen refuses to lose his last connection to Louis, and Pearl is pretty set on staying human for most of the canon. So maybe in a post-canon au, their relationship grows with time, and while every now and then one might try to convince the other to change, over the years they eventually give up sort of and just accept the circumstances for what they are. As Pearl gets older, Owen does make a few more attempts to get her to turn so he doesn't have to go through losing someone he has grown to care for, but she still decides to stay human, and Owen has to once again face mortality and losing someone he cares about. Except this time Pearl encourages/teaches him how to grieve, but also move on and not fall into depression. That losing people is just a part of life, and that given the nature of Owen's 'life', he gonna have to get used to mortality, death, and making new friends/losing old ones. I'll leave it there for now with just one last little thing: if they continue on, I maaaay consider doing a ship doodle or perhaps some writing as the next propaganda ;)
• Vote bloodmoon please their dynamic is so good!!! They have this rivaly, where their moralities clash, with Owens thought of "all humans are cruel and evil so they deserve to die" and Pearls "if you kill i kill you, its your own choice" and stuff, and they kept fighting bout it and think of all that potential. And the classic scene when Pearl hears Owens footsteps on the beach, and then they had a covenrsation about morality and killing and stuff, and their fight on the roof, and their fight on the beach and fgdjgfdfdkfdfgk VOTE BLOODMOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MYTHWRITER:
• Mythwriter is fucking adorable. Shelby is such a fan of Sausage and Sausage is always supportive of Shelby's own writing dreams. I will be spreading so much mythwriter propaganda this whole tournament.
• Mythwriter is beautiful because of how they start out as Shelby looking up to Sausage but then Sausage begins to look up to Shelby, it's actually adorable.
• Mythwriter my beloveds! She’s his biggest fan, he’s her favorite author, they inspire each other, they enable each other, they both hunger for the dark in ways that are deeply unhealthy, they turn to fiction and storytelling as a way to understand the things that frighten and confuse them, because fiction is easy and safe while reality is complicated and messy, they celebrate being turned and adore their sires while their fellow humans look at them in horror and call them “victims” and “broken” and “misguided” and treat them as if they are in need of rescue when that’s the very last thing they want, they both watched their friends die (Avid, Martyn, Ren) and they bitterly despise the ones they perceive as responsible (Pyro, Owen, Apo) and neither will ever find it in them to blame the one truly responsible (Scott) because how can you both love and hate the very thing that looked into your eyes and saw your darkness and still welcomed you into his embrace?
(Also I just have a fondness for that one little moment just after Shelby was turned, she was stumbling back to town alone in the dark while the militia were charging toward the castle, and Sausage saw her from a distance and wondered why she was alone and if she was alright, what might have happened if he had gone after her and asked her directly? Would she have told him the truth? Would they have bonded over their roommates being vampires? Might Sausage have ended up turned much earlier with a different sire? Or would he have become the turncoat in the village, the spy for the vampires? The AU possibilities are endless for our lovely writers!)
• The best thing about mythwriter is that Shelby has written fanfiction for his books. They're both storytellers and they are so mutually encouraging, which I've said before, but just imagine Sausage being newly turned into a vampire and Shelby being so so excited that she gets to teach her idol about being a vampire, and throughout the series they just grow closer and closer and Shelby is just so happy because now she's friends with her favorite author, but it's a very mutual relationship because Sausage is incredibly proud of her and I love them I love them I love them
• Vote Mythwriter because the pansexual & asexual dynamic is too fun to be ignored. Never let an ace be without their pan and never let a pan be without their ace
