Or, more accurately, my attempt at a swap au.
I don't know if anyone's done this before ( probably has been ) if so I'd genuinely LOVE to hear about it.
So, you know how the original is one streamer and five ( eight if you count Darnold, Forzen and Gman ) ai's, right?
For this swap au, we're swapping THAT around. ( I absolutely love roleswaps, so don't take this as me dissing them. I'm not. I just wanted to try something a bit different)
So instead, it's five streamers and one ai. ( along with three other people playing minor roles - maybe?)
Half life : But Gordon Freeman can speak ( HLGFS ) is an au where a group of Justin TV streamer friends download a mod that gives the main character of Half life a voice and artificial intelligence so anyone can travel along as scientists with him. Fun idea for a stream right?
( Also note : in the same way that Wayne is the Player but the Player is not Wayne and could be anyone, the streamers / actors of the science team are not the actual rtvs streamers. )
Honestly, it would probably play out quite similar to the og ( However in the perspectives of the Streamers, alternating often). But I imagine the Science Streamers would the more careless in general and with spawning random shit. Like how in the og the crew would spawn stuff momentarily to goof off? Yeah, that, but they just go wild.
I imagine the streamers were also told, like how the Player was, to keep in character so the ai won't break...
But they aren't as careful as the Player was. At the start they probably were, but it's hard to resist bullshitting around with your friends.
Gordon would still go through his (edited video version, because in the streams he was murdering left and right ) arc of being bewildered to accepting the madness.
But, you're may be wondering what happens to the events like 1. Coomer becoming self aware? Or 2. Gordon's hand getting cut off? Or 3. the Benrey fight at the end?
I HAVE SOME IDEAS- but I don't have any solid frame for the story. So, here's the things I've come up with for those three events.

1. A ) Like in the og, Coomer shoots up when they're outside, but in this au Gordon gets accidentally caught on his model and is brought up too. Gordon sees that there's nothing out there and goes eerily quiet and unresponsive for a while / gets all jittery and deep in denial.
1. B ) Gordon clips through one of the Streamer Team's models and sees their ' insides ' - like in games when you clip into a model and see their hollow inside?
Or perhaps both of these could happen?
This would then lead for Gordon to be the one to yell " There's NOTHING OUT THERE! " during the Bubby rocket sequence ( which would happen almost exactly like the og )

2. I was thinking that the Streamer team would know about the ambush as a set event SO they ( Bubby and Benrey's actors specifically. Whether the other two know or not depends ) decide, to make it more engaging, to pretend to betray Gordon to the military...
They expected a short beating and a knockout. Instead it dragged on and on and just before they step in - Gordon's hand gets cut off.
Now - so far, the Streamer Team have been more chaotic and careless than the Science Team HOWEVER. This part, where the Science Team had just watched Gordon get beat up, I imagine the Streamer Team trying to actively stop the event once they realise it's not going as they'd planned it to.
Now, here is another small but also big deviation from the og - where og Gordon was happy to see Tommy and immediately went over to him once he saw him after getting dumped in the trash compactor this au's Gordon is not.
This au's Gordon does see Tommy, like that moment where he's in the pipe above him. But he doesn't call out or jump down. Because- since the Streamer Team are closer to each other in this au - he doesn't trust ANY of them.
I imagine Coomer and Tommy find each other, after the cutscene ended the game freaks out and shoots the streamers all over the place. So for a bit it's just Coomer and Tommy trying to keep the show rolling, probably talking with their chat a bit as well- since Gordon's not around
Unsurprisingly. It's now the Gordon fight. I had made a bit of art for this part, but I don't like it, so I'm thinking of remaking it. But the idea is that Gordon's a bit delirious from bloodloss ( as this is a very real wound to him ) and stress, as well as burning with anger from the team's ' betrayal ' AND very much not coping with the realisation his reality is a game.
So like... I don't know what to have instead of clones. Maybe just other scientist models/npcs? I was thinking that or skeletons. But other scientists makes more sense.

I imagine after the fight the atmosphere between him and the Streamer team would be a bit tense - on his side - but it'd ease up as he gets more delirious.
ALSO after Gordon gets the gun arm from Darnold ( who's just a friend of the streamers ) he'd kinda start asking meta questions.

3. As for the Benrey fight?
Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh. I had art of Gordon replacing Benrey as the final boss, but I dunno if that still fits. I will probably come back to this au.
